Bubis Heavyweight Ranking February 2005

Post by BubiScholz »

Missed by a lot of posters and after a month without action here is my new Ranking:

1.(1.) Vitali Klitschko
2.(3.) Chris Byrd
3.(6.) Nicolai Valuev (One more fight for the WBA-title,best fight in Feb)
4.(4.) Luan Krasniqi (two fights away from the WBO-title)
5.(5.) Hasim Rahman (still th only dangerous American Contender)
6.(2.) Sinan Samil Sam (a bit disappointing last fight, still good WBC-spot, next opponent for Vitali after Rahman)
7.(7.) Corrie Sanders
8.(8.) Andrew Golota
9.(9.) Wladi Klitschko
10.(10.) Ruslan Chagaev

Ruiz is a Wrestler and i don´t rank him though he is of course one of the champs. in two fights he will be history when Valuev wrestles him to death.

Bubi, how can you rate Valuev so high, when his best wins are over Attila Levin and Nobles? Top 10 maybe, but Rahman is a former world champ, surely he should rank higher.

corrie sanders has retired, no james toney, no ruiz, no brewster, no Danny wiliams? :o

I also think Monte barret has to be in there if you have Vla d in there, which he shouldnt be, also Samuel peter would get in over Sam any day of the week.

1. Vitali
2. Byrd
3 Ruiz
4 Toney
5. Rahman
6. Valuev
7. Peter
8. Brewster
9. Barrett
10 Krasniq

thats far more like it mate.

ah, maybe you are right regarding his potential but i just regard the last fights. a win over a 4th or 5th class Meehan or Calloway is on theother hand. the Levin-fight was really brilliant by Valuev. and he is the one who realy improves.

thanks for ranking Luan. Toney has a win over maybe a top 50 guy(Holyfield is done), Williams has just one win over a maybe top 30 guy (Tyson is done), Brewster is maybe top15 IMO like Peter and maybe Barrett

Yes but Levin is nothing special, and the fact he retired immediately afterward says a lot about him mentally.

I think it only fair to take into account a fighter's past achievements, and the fact that Rahman has beaten Lennox Lewis cannot be ignored.

The win over Lennox is too long ago for an actual list. IMO he has a very good rating here where his potential is recognised. if i would only regard his last 4 opponents he´wouldn´t even make it to the top 20

Plus Levin was coming off a loss to Jeremy Willams when he fought Valuev who was in turn flattened by Peter.

1. Vitali
2. Byrd
3. Ruiz
4. Rahman
5. Golota
6. Barrett
7. Valuev
8. Peter
9. Toney
10. Sam

1.(1.) Vitali Klitschko
2.(3.) Chris Byrd
3.(6.) Nicolai Valuev
4.(4.) Luan Krasniqi
5.(5.) Hasim Rahman
6.(2.) Sinan Samil Sam
7.(7.) Corrie Sanders
8.(8.) Andrew Golota
9.(9.) Wladi Klitschko
10.(10.) Ruslan Chagaev

Valuev has beaten a top 20 heavyweight yet - how is he 3?
Sam was outboxed by Gomez, a fighter who got smashed by Diaz and has beaten a fat Clay-Bey since. And he's the #6

Corrie Sanders was dismantled last time out and has now retired.

Golota deserves his ranking DESPITE not winning in his last 2-3 fights?

Monte Barret should be in your rankings and the inclusion of Ruslan Chagaev is laughable - I'm suprised other European Oleg Maskaev hasn't pipped him for that spot given your blinkered view of the heavyweight division.

The Empire State building has fewer flaws than that list.

Lets forget all talk of Danny Williams as a top 10 fighter, thats clearly not the case! Top 20 yes, top 10 no.

Valuev is too high there Bubi he is nowhere near the third best heavyweight - he could well prove to be but is not there yet.

If Ruiz wouldn´t be Wrestler for me he might be the #3. but that´s just my personal point of view.

Corrie Sanders has not retired. he made a contract with Universum and fought already once for them. as the rumour came up i phoned with them and told it isn´t true.

It's obvious that for Bubi, the two criteria are that you are European and that you MIGHT achieve something.

Actual achievements rank very low on Bubi's lists, which is why Ruiz, despite the fact that he has beaten everyone put in front of him except Jones in recent times, gets no respect.

Personally, I think that a proper bit of refereeing, where Ruiz wasn't allowed to hold and maul all the time, would result in another loss, but the fact remains he has to be regarded as a top 10 heavyweight.

By the reckoning Bubi uses, Toney should be #3, if we are going to rank on potential, then a guy who has won titles in 3 weight divisions surely has potential.

Vitali
Byrd
Ruiz
Rahman
Krasniqi
Toney
Brewster
Valuev
Peter
Golota

I think that's fair.

James, we will never agree on Toney. For me he has no potential in heavy and hasn´t shown anything and will even lose vs the Wretler. I can understand rating someone high for having made big fights in heavy (Rahman) but not for having made a good fight in 1995 in middle.....

Regarding Ruiz: I just don´t rank him personally. His wrestling must be judged by the ref.

Surely there are more intersting divisions to debate at the moment.... The heavyweight division is absolute toilet.. I'm amazed this Bubi fella actually gets you guys in a discussion about this every month or so.

Oh so his victory over Jirov at cruiserweight doesn't count then? I'll bet a pound to a penny you were raving about Jirov before that fight.
