Calzaghe offers to help Kessler beat Froch

Post by whiskey »

A danish poster put this up on another site..

http://lionheart-boxing.dk/news.php?readmore=3697

According to danish media (ekstrabladet.dk and Lionheart-boxing.dk), Calzaghe has offered to step in with advices in the last weeks of his preparation for the fight versus Froch. It's Simon Lundt, kessler's manager who has the contact from Calzaghes people. according to the media, Kessler wasn't totally rejective of the offer, if Calzaghe meant he could contribute with something.

Calzaghe knows that if Froch beats Kessler, he really has the better resume. In fact, he probably has already.

Calzaghe is terrified.

My God, you people are pathetic. Anything you can dig up.

Is Calzaghe meant to be showing "loyalty" to Froch or something?

When Calzaghe fought Kessler and Lacy, Froch told everyone they would knock Calzaghe cold. And when Lennox Lewis offered advice to Corrie Sanders on how to beat Wladimir Klitschko, was he being a complete dog?

And is this really true? You don't think this could actually be someone trying to kick up a bit of interest in the fight, do you? Neither is he quoted. Joe's so lazy, can you really see him going to Denmark or Berlin to help Kessler? It's difficult enough to get him out of South Wales.

I'm amazed you spend so long trying to slag Calzaghe off, Gomez? It just makes Froch still appear awfully bitter.

And what if Lennox announced that he was going to give Ruiz tips on how to beat haye? Do you see the common denominator or do I need to spell it out.

Calzaghe is retired. He wouldn't fight Froch and now that Froch has shown balls that calzaghe wishes he had, Calzaghe is obviously getting a bit nervous. Kessler is his big win and if Froch goes over and does a job on kessler, he'll be able to take the piss out of Calzaghe for the rest of his life.

No he won't because Calzaghe beat Kessler first. How on earth do you believe that he will be able to take the piss out of Calzaghe?
Calzaghe topped the bill in Vegas and Madison Square Garden, boxed in front of 51,000 in Cardiff won every version of the world title, retired unbeaten and earned millions of pounds. Froch is boxing on Primetime in a town no one had ever heard of. Froch is also now in his prime, whereas Calzaghe is nearly 39. He is also getting Kessler off a bad defeat, which while not Froch's fault, would someone lessen the impact of his win.
Your version of reality is very odd.

The whole Froch/Calzaghe feud is getting rather tedious now! Only one way to settle this, Joe!

Fantastic fighting a guy who'd moved up 2 weight classes who he outweighed by 18lb. A guy that was ill with a fever and gave Hopkins a very flattering win.

Calzaghe milked that one too. He's a cretin.

So why do you spend so much of your energy trying to do him down?

Gary Shaw did not think Dirrell won at all,
matter of fact you can here him screaming that he needs a KO.

That's not how it seemed on that Showtime version of 24/7. It seemed they all thought they got robbed and didn't want to fight overseas again because of it. Shaw was trying to be the gallant loser for the sake of the tournament

I thought Dirrell won too until I watched a few days later when I was properly awake. I also turned off the commentary. It seemed a convincing Froch win to me as it did to most at ringside.

I think Calzaghe is looking very undignified over the way he's slagging Froch. He's retired and should let it go. What's the point of fighting talk now he's retired? Froch has gone about things the right way - fighting the best and putting it all on the line to test himself to his limits - he doesn't deserve the stick Joe gives him. Alright, Joe could say Froch slagged him but he was trying to get a fight with him, which, last time I checked, was what boxers were supposed to do. I think Joe, for all his 'ordinary Joe' talk, misses the limelight and thinks slagging Carl is a better way to get it than dancing.

How many of those fights were billed as World title fights?

How old was Froch when he finally earned himself a world title shot?

Let's throw a bit of the anti-Calzaghe logic at Froch: Why didn't Froch take the short end of the purse to go and fight in Germany or Denmark for a world title, rather than just sit at home in Nottingham against hand-picked opponents. Had Froch won a world title in 2006 when he was 29 and gone to Germany to fight someone like Beyer, or gone to Denmark to fight Kessler then (like a true warrior!), rather than getting to Kessler after he had been beaten a couple of times, Calzaghe would not have been able to avoid him.
I'm sure Sauerland would have been happy to put Beyer in with Froch, providing he got a couple of options, because they would have known that that was there was into a Calzaghe super-fight.
Instead, Froch fought the likes of Westerman and Dodson and sent out 100 press releases bitching about Calzaghe and was 31 before he got to box for a world title.
