Magee comes back from horrendous injury

I'm copying and pasting from a skysports article. I really admire Magee for coming back from his attack, he has inspirated me bigtime.

Eamonn Magee is ready to return to the ring for the first time in 15 months after fearing his boxing career was over.

The 33-year-old claimed the WBU light welterweight title in his last fight back in December 2003 and was being tipped to take on some of the big names in the division.

But his career appeared to be finished when he suffered a broken leg and fractured knee cap in a brutal assault in Belfast.

The former Commonwealth champion believed at the time that he would never fight again and hoped to remain in the sport in some capacity.

However, the Irishman is now back to full fitness and takes on Dane Allan Vester at the King's Hall in Belfast on March 18 as he looks to revive his career.

"Once I got on my crutches all the doubts went out of my mind,” he stated to Sky Sports News.

"It was only a doubt until I got up on my feet and I just knew that I was going to get back.”

Trainer John Breen is delighted to see his fighter back in action and admits he was amazed by Magee's resolve to return.

"He's the most determined person I've ever met,” he said. "If someone tells Eamonn not to do something, he'll do it, it's just the way he is.”

from the sounds of the extent of the injury reported at the time, this is an unbelievable comeback.

I've not met Eamonn myself, but I spoke to someone who sat at the table next to him at the boxing board of control dinner last year, and he said that Eamonn was as sound as they come and that he sat there having a drink and a chat with him all night.

Eamonn is the personification of 'iron will' and a great example to anyone who was ever thinking about giving up on anything in life.

Whether or not he has a triumphant return to the ring or not, the man's perseverence should be an inspiration to us all.
