White collar boxing

Post by tonyevs »

I have seen a few of the fights on Sky Bravo, and from what I see it looks good fun, well organised and well supported.

Am I right in saying all the people are from the same gym?

The gym itself is the Ring I think, I would imagine it is a fitness gym styled in the boxing gym format or am I wrong?
The equipment looks second to none, all the top Title bags and mitts, I`ve never been to a proffesional gym so well equiped.

Has anybody here given it a go? and is it only for people who have had no amateur or pro fights before, because the ages range from what I`ve seen early twenty`s to late fifties.

Good fun anyway.

former british middleweight contender craig winter trains a guy for the white collar scene, the guy owns loads of private nursing homes throughout the uk so he isnt short of cash but he enjoys the boxing.

I'm the resident white collar boxer here.

Coincidentally i went to Cityboxers (the gym from the Bravo shows) for the first time last night.

The main trainer there, Mark Burford is a good guy and seems to know his stuff. I think the tv show said he was a pro but his career was cut short by injury. His name isn't in the Boxrec database though.

There are a few ex amateurs there apparently but mostly it's guys who want to get very fit, learn to box and test themselves. Like me.

I don't think it's encouraged as an alternative to a ordinary gym. From what i was shown last night it's more about learning the craft than getting a knackering workout.

The gym is new and very well kitted out if a little cramped. If anyone wants any more info on it let me know.
