Well it is slightly more insane, Trevor Berbick held the title from 1982 to 1984 and fought for it outside of the UK , before that you'd have to go back to 1910 for a heavyweight title fight not held in the UK.

Not too long ago Nigel Benn had some storming fights defending his commonwealth belt.... anthony Logan, michael watson....

there were some exciting fughts featuring Benn for what was then a cup/trophy as I rememner.
