Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
I'd go british/commonwealth and euro in quick succession (he has a good chance to claim all three). fill up the trophy cabinet a bit and boost confidence.
then 1 last pop at a world trinket or a payday vs herbie hide.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
He is a walking KO at this stage, he will quietly slip away soon....
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
He should fight Norton for the British and then aim to defend the title a few times (if he wins).
He could possibly defend it against Afolabi or Hide at some point.
If he steps up in level too soon then I think he will just get knocked out again.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Where Enzo goes (or attempts to) is probably relative to allegedly's promotional ambitions over the next 12-18 months, his stable is quite thin, and putting aside the Olympians and Kevin Mitchell, he doesn't seem to have too many main event fighters. Not saying that Enzo is going to work his way back to winning and defending world titles but Frank will need a certain amount of title fights over the next 12-18 months, and also a requisite amount of main supporting bouts that can be elevated to main event status if the original main event falls through.
So, I can see Enzo putting together a winning streak and maybe in late summer fighting for the British or Commonwealth title. Maybe if Frank had a lot of main event quality fighters, then Enzo would be consigned to the scrap heap, but in these lean times, opportunities might crop up - that's my view anyway.

Enzo vS Flint...
Its a love thing.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
I can see him making a bit of a step up as chief support for Cleverly next fight. Cleverly hasn't boxed in Wales for ages, so I could see them putting him on at Cardiff Arena in the summer.
Enzo has always been popular and sells a lot of tickets, so maybe, if Norton isn't available, they might get him some international belt to help him ease back, then give him a bigger fight, maybe alongside Cleverly again, later in the year.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Enzo's still got plenty of power and I seriously dont rate Norton and I know he's defending his Commonwealth in Australia so I would think he will fight the winner of that fight.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
yeah mate i think this would be the right way to go he should of gone this way in the first place ??stevieb_8006 wrote:I'd go british/commonwealth and euro in quick succession (he has a good chance to claim all three). fill up the trophy cabinet a bit and boost confidence.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Norton vs Maccarinelli sounds acceptable - cannot see it happening though untill it is demanded by the BBBoC.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
why doesnt he just go for broke and move up to heavyweight for one last journey .
Unless he clearly believes he has something left at cruiser.
Suppose if he gets knocked out again he could blame the weight and move to heavy anyway.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Cant see him doing anything at world level heavyweight to be honest and I think guys like Fury, Sexton and Chisora would whipe the floor with him and they deserve more of a chance to be honest, I couldnt see much of a point him going up.Gazmac81 wrote:why doesnt he just go for broke and move up to heavyweight for one last journey .

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
A move up to Heavyweight doesn't make much sense as he is less likely to have success there than he is at Cruiserweight.Gazmac81 wrote:why doesnt he just go for broke and move up to heavyweight for one last journey .

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
he should consider a drop to light heavey, if he staying at cruiserweight think he'll be fighting the winner of norton v dolan

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
I like Enzo and he's a decent guy willing to fight all comers.
Obviously he looks a bit shell-shocked lately, but could still yet carve out paydays at British level.
He's had a bad run of luck with fights, trainers and so forth. I think he needs to tick over, pay the bills and evaluate himself at the end of the year - try and get himself into a domestic title situation.

Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
wasn't there talk of him going down the MMA road?
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
If he could make LH why not fight Bellew, good fight on paper 8)
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Bellew is a very hard puncher and Maccarinelli has a weak chin. This is not a fight that makes sense for Maccarinelli.taffytoon wrote:If he could make LH why not fight Bellew, good fight on paper 8)
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
If Mac can not hold his own with Tony then he will know he has to retire. Mac will be coming down from Cruiser so will be used to hard punches. The fight makes perfect sense if he can make the weight.Horse wrote:Bellew is a very hard puncher and Maccarinelli has a weak chin. Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Do fighters coming down in weight usually have improved punch resistance?taffytoon wrote:If Mac can not hold his own with Tony then he will know he has to retire. Mac will be coming down from Cruiser so will be used to hard punches. The fight makes perfect sense if he can make the weight.
Bellew looks like he is a World class puncher. Why would Maccarinelli want to move down a weight division to fight a guy like that at domestic level?
For a World title? Maybe. For the Commonwealth title? No.
Re: Enzo Maccarinelli where does he go?
Where else can he go? By the time of the fight he will be a lot heavier than the weighin, as will Tony. But truth is this fight answers a hell of a lot of questions if it happens. Remember not all that long ago he was world champion, Commonwealth is a good stepping stone for bigger fights.Horse wrote:Do fighters coming down in weight usually have improved punch resistance?taffytoon wrote:If Mac can not hold his own with Tony then he will know he has to retire. He can stay at Cruiserweight and fight Norton.taffytoon wrote:Where else can he go?
If you want to see Maccarinelli knocked out again, this fight makes sense. If you want to see him rebuild and have some success, it does not.taffytoon wrote:By the time of the fight he will be a lot heavier than the weighin, as will Tony. When a fighter is coming back from a number of heavy knockout losses, putting them in with a massive puncher is idiotic.
