Hypothetical Match-up: Pacquiao vs Gatti

Post by big train express »

well fellas what are your takes at welterweight?

a prime gatti(post ward trilogy) vs pacquiao. i see a good war early on. imo gatti's power was underrated so it would definitely back pacquiao up. Pac would start to feel the power accumulate around the middle rounds. pac's incredible stamina however would prevail over a tired gatti during the late rounds. i see a stoppage around the 9th or 10th round in a competitive, highly-entertaining war with both men busted up.

im saying this because i think pac is a good opponent choice for gatti(style wise.) gatti always had trouble with slick counter punchers and so has pacquiao. two toe-to-toe fighters in a classic war.

Come on, Gatti survived the couple of round against Oscar or PBF. You may argue Pacman is stylewise even worse choice for him, but I still think Gatti survives a couple (2-4) of rounds.

Ivan Robinson used Gatti's head as a speedball. The mess Pac would make of him would be... Unconscionable.

Can I have some of what the O/P is smoking, please? Ta.

Me too

Gatti was exciting fighter but very limited and this would've been an easy fight for Pac. I could safely assume that big train express just started watching boxing. Pac by brutal KO in 1 :TU:

If Hatton lasted till the 2nd, Gatti might make it till Rd 3.

Hatton was alot tougher than Gatti. Gatti struggled with fighters Hatton would have handled fairly easily. One of the reasons Gatti was so exciting was the fact that he was going to be in a tough fight no matter who he was fighting. Pac has the style to take him out much quicker than Delahoya and Mayweather did.

Pacquiao would look very impressive, throwing fast combo's and getting in and out, Gatti could take it for a while but I would say a 5 round KO for Pac

He was better than he's often given credit for though. His myth has turned him into a barroom brawler, where in fact he did have decent skill, and of course more heart and determination than almost anyone.

But he's not beating Pacquiao, not even on his best day.

Gatti was a good fighter and tough as nails. I can see him lasting a few rounds with Pacquiao, possibly even 4-5 rounds but it would be a one-sided brutal beat down.

I can not seem Gatti keeping up with Pacman.
As brave, bold and fun to watch that Gatti was
I just think that Pacman is too much for him.

This would be sickening to watch. Pacquiao by KO4, after having Gatti down in every round. Gatti's face would be a mess.
