BIKA V BRINKLEY

Post by dan h »

Apparently this fight will be on within 90 for the IBF no. 1 ranking.

I will take Bika by KO IN 5

I hope this comes off. i havent seen much of Brinkley since the contendor but he has been spoken about on numerous US cards and seems to be on a bit of a role. If anything Brinkley has kept a high profile in the US so it is a very winnable fight for Sakio against a fighter who will keep his name out there....bring it on !!

news report from today

IBF Purse Bid: Brinkley-Bika

A purse bid was held in the IBF office today for the IBF super middleweight eliminator for #1 between Jesse Brinkley and Sakio Bika. InterBox Promotions was the winning bidder with a bid of $134,616. Star Boxing bid $111,000, and Golden Boy Promotions bid $102,000. InterBox has 90 days to put this fight on.

I would have thought Bika would have been worth more than that tbh.

Anyway, it's good to see the scorpion in a 'more' meaningful fight. But what does No.1 ranking mean these days? Perhaps Sakio should ask Meehan about it.

Well realistically that's what happens when you don't fight regularly and when you do it's scrubs.

I wouldn't hold my breath on this...Hope i'm wrong

He had a good upset win against over Curtis Stevens recently. Still, so long as ring rust hasn't gone right through Bika, Brinkley didn't show anything that should really worry Bika. Still I'm just happy that Bika might get a fight against a 'known' name.

like Toppity I'm surprised at how low the purse bids were for #2 v #4 with a title fight for the winner. If that is what these guys are worth it surprises me promoters here can't afford reasonably well performed U.S fighters when it is time for our guys to step up. If thats all Brinkley commands there would be many good fighters who should be in the $ range for so many of our better guys who survive on a diet of thai taxi drivers.

I think Brinkley is underrated by a lot of people, but Bika will be a little to tough for him in my opinion, although I wouldn't rule out a Brinkley win. Should be a competitive and entertaining fight.

Bika convinced Manfredo that his future was at middleweight.

Id say Bike breaks him down within the first 6-7 rounds. Brinkley is tough but i Think Bika will get the job done in the Middle rounds.
