Jamie McDonnel's EBU title fight - on French TV.

Post by stujones »

Take note Primetime - the Klitchsko vs Chambers undercard isn't inspiration. It would be great if you could get a deal to show this as part of the Klitchsko vs Chambers buildup.

If Primetime do not (as expected) show this - does anyone know if channel L'Équipe is available in the UK - via those funny satalite dishes?

I dont think McDonnel has done enough to be on something like Primetime even m8, he's a very small name even in British Boxing circles.

Napa beat him in my opinion and the French lad will do a job on him, but I'll ask about for a stream m8 :D

Well I would rather see a EBU title fight than whats on the Klitchsko undercard. Its a long shot and I wasn't expecting or wanting them to show the McDonnel fight INSTEAD of the Klitchsko fight - just ADDITIONALLY to the card, on delay or something if its clashing for time.

Yes I give McDonnell a chance. He'll have to a score a stoppage/ win very convincingly to get the verdict but he's a young lad who is improving all the time. He will have learnt a lot from his fight with Napa and wouldn't shock me at all if he pulled out the win. Good luck Jamie!

Jamie knows he has a shot here - there is absolutely nothing to lose and Frank Maloney, Dennis Hobson need props for first getting the fight and also telling Jamie to take it - his titles are not at risk for having a pop - and I honestly think he has a chance if the judges play fair.

He has nothing to lose, his 0 has already gone and he'll be keeping the British and Commonwealth titles. I do think the French guy will be too quick for him though. You only have to compare their performances against Napa. Napa lost clearly and widely in one of these fights.

Admittedly, that might have just been a one off performance - but he was impressive against Napa and I think stylistically McDonnel doesn't pose isn't going to be too awkard as this guy is gangly also.

Think you're getting mixed up here Stu. Jerome Arnould never fought Napa, that was Malik Bouziane. :TU:

Sorry my mistake  , got Arnould's fights with Codet and Siderenko on tape. The french obviously have a decent pool of Bantams.

Easier fight than Bouziane IMO - although Bouziane's record and performances before and since Napa (I've only seen Bouziane in the Napa fight) suggest that was more of a style's things.

Its a crying shame the lack of coverage this has had domestically. It would of been an affordable show for BBC or ITV to put on and would of got viewers, especially if they would of put a slot in looking at Froch or Haye's build up to there next fights!
