The 168s are in dire need for some unification bouts! It's one division that has never been completely unified!

the division is open since the Super Champion Ottke, a future hall of famer, has retired. Markus Beyer has a chance if he doesn´t get KOéd in the first 3 rounds. Universum has cancelled the next fight of Veit and talking with allegedly Super Manager about a rematch with Calzaghe. the winner of this fight and the winner of Beyer-Green should fight for the crown in the division. maybe a german dream?

bubi do you have nay of ottke fights on video / dvd, if you do leave em in
germany when you come over. :TU:

in sewriousness its debatable to say sven was number one or calzaghe was number to be honest as they never fought and reigned at similar times.

I will bet Ottke doesn't make it to the hall of fame. Too boring. I don't think Calzaghe will either.

I doubt very seriously that Ottke ever makes the Hall of Fame, unless 50 years from now there is no one to challenge him at the polls! Ottke is a prime example of what I had been talking about earlier...a German based supposed "world champion" who refused to leave the confines of home to defend thye title against worthy competition and the worthy competetion that came to Germany to challenge often left with bogus decisions against them. Ottke was a good boxer will no punch who was presented with several gift decisions, not only against American fighters, such as Charles Brewer, Glen Johnson (Jamaican/American) and Byron Mitchell but also Robin Reid, Mads Larsen and possibly David Starie, I don't knopw about that bout because I haven't seen it! Certainly not Hall of Fame material, nor was the sub-par competition that he did face. It doesn't make a difference if he had fifty title defenses, if it wasn't against fighters who could be cmopetitive enough to make another rise against adversity and overcome obstacles to win, then it doesn't merit greatness! Ottke was successful, retired undefeated, but was far from being an all-time great, even at the super middleweight division!

I meant to add the following to the end of this sentence:

It doesn't make a difference if he had fifty title defenses, if it wasn't against fighters who could be cmopetitive enough to make another rise against adversity and overcome obstacles to win, then it doesn't merit greatness unless the fighter is just truly exceptional and a cut above the rest, like Roy Jones Jr!

Ottke boxed the best and beat the best in the division. he didn´t duck anybody.like him or not. that´s a fact. i also don´t like his style but he is an alltime great . RJJ ducked DM and Grace. DM ducked RJJ. i konow that the hall of fame is an american institution where Schmeling and Johannson are the exceptions to declare it as international. :TU:

I tell you what bubi, I'll bet you 1,487.61 Deutsche Marks that the only way that Ottke gets in the Hall of Fame is if he visits the U.S. and takes a tour! By the way, who the fornicate is Grace?

Barry McGuigan made it because of his exciting style, his enormous popularity, and the fact he beat another hall of famer in Pedroza. Ottke may have been popular in Germany, but he didn't beat anyone significant, not did he have an exciting style. I don't think he will be inducted at all.

he beat the best in the division, even your hero Glen Johnson. :o

it would be a scandal if he wouldn´t be a hall of famer. the american heroes only fight in america and make it to the hall of fame that is of course in the USA. nothing more to say.

Bubi, you sound just like this dumbass that use to post on the rec.sport.boxing newsgroup who went by “furrey goat!” Is that who you really are bubi, the furrey goat? I know why you are so upset with De La Hoya though, he was awarded a “German-like” decision against Felix Strum in the U.S.

The inductees are not all American, they are from all over the world. There are quite a few other European fighters in there Bubi. Germany hasn't really had that many special fighters is has to be said.

Ottke boxed the best, well almost, not quite, but he boxed them in the knowledge that pretty much as long as he finished the fight on his feet, he was going to get the decision, I'm sorry if that seems biased, but that is how I see it. I guess you could argue the same about Calzaghe, but only the fights against Starie and Reid were debatable. Neither was a robbery, but both were close and debatable fights.

barry just shut up, the robberies and the bought judges are invented in the USA and nowhere else. Don King and the boxing mafia can tell you how it goes. you don´t know anything about corrupt boxers and judges in the USA. it has a 80 year fornicating history. stay in your own yard. fornicate a cow in Virginia and tell your tales to your mother, ah sorry.......cousin.

You're delusional Bubi, and your anti-americanism is baffling. Is it because of the war?

Sounds like you are preturbed furrey, or I mean Bubi! Don't forget Bubi, it was Hitler, who was German by the way (I'm not speaking about all Germans though) who thought only one kind of person should exsist, so it is very more probable that you have incest running in your blood than it does here in the U.S. where we have sex with any race of the opposite sex, so the cousin and mother remarks are more closer to you home than mine!

i know you hate Ottke but he won vs all top fighters except Calzaghe. and he did beat, just taking your arguments, the best light heavy of 2004, who will have to be a hall of famer in your opinion. :o

come on chaps, i know im partial to the odd flare fo temper on here but its usually got a point, not just slagging off each others heritage for the sake of it. Lets not stoop to the standard of some of the threads on the current scene.

i must admit i wince everytime someone throws the war inot an argument at Bubi, i dont think this is something that should be used EVER.
It s period in histroy that should be remembered and not used for petty insults.

peace :TU:

What in the hell does that mean, we don't speak "furrey goat" on this board! By the way, Ottke fought a lot of recycled Calzaghe opponents!

J, that´s normal for american guys with lack of intelligence. if they can´t argue anymore, they come with Hitler and the war. it´s a shame for an editor to be such a racist. i don´t know what would happen if i would be an arab. :o
