Emmanuel Steward
What does he bring to Wladimir?
Apart from swearing like a fish wife?
Wladimir is basic.
No uppercuts or in-fighting?

Re: Emmanuel Steward
He doesn't need uppercuts or inside fighting. His cautious style is the best approach for him to take and he has been more dominant using it than any other time during his career. He has been battering top opponents for a while now, so why would he change a gameplan that is so effective. And that was a tremendous knockout, will be a candidate for knockout of the year.

Someone with speed/movement and a punch takes him.

Re: Emmanuel Steward
I can't belive you don't actually know that Manny was brought in to sort out his defence. This is the whole reason he dominates like he does..apart from that nothing at all

Re: Emmanuel Steward
Yes, all his opponents have been in the top ten. Tony Thompson wasn't small and Klitschko put him to sleep. Haye is small heavyweight as well, so are you going to use that excuse if he losses? Chambers is just as fast as Haye, takes a punch better, and is better defensivly. He ended up getting completly shut down and knocked unconsious. Haye has the power to stop Wlad, but if that jab is coming in his face all night it will be very difficult.DaGOD wrote:Top opponents? The new crop of heavies seem to lack a punch and any real desire to throw anything decent, being tall with a good jab doesn't mean you are unbeatable just that the opposition is not good enoughcrusader wrote:Yes, all his opponents have been in the top ten. Re: Emmanuel Steward
Klitschko is more than just tall with a good jab. He also has good speed, power, footwork, and is very smart. His opponents want to win, but it very difficult to come out swinging when you have the best jab in the world smashing into your face constanly, followed by that right hand. Alot easier said than done.
And even if Chambers had power nothing would have changed, he hardly landed a clean punch all night. Whenever he threw Wlad either blocked it or bounced out of range.

Steward has done very well with Wlad. His advice was very good in the corner I thought and they have obvisouly found a winning formula together.

Agree, but its that exact 'winning' formula that stopped HBO showing the fight.alexpaterson wrote:Steward has done very well with Wlad. His advice was very good in the corner I thought and they have obvisouly found a winning formula together.

Chambers is a yank, and WK had a contract with HBO once uon a time.
Re: Emmanuel Steward
I would love to see Haye knock this big lunk out. It's going to be very hard to get past that left jab (the referees should really make him stop using it to hold people at bay) but if he can use his speed and footwork effectively he could land the big one on this one dimensional clown and put him out of all our miseries.

Re: Emmanuel Steward
And using it to literally hold it out and push opponents back, its illegal, but I suppose if it's his promotion and crowd he will get away with it.. Haye has to do him in the 1st 5 and I think he can...glahn wrote:

Yep, just like Haye can get away with hitting guys behind the head.Rampage101 wrote:And using it to literally hold it out and push opponents back, its illegal, but I suppose if it's his promotion and crowd he will get away with it..glahn wrote:

Re: Emmanuel Steward
I appreciate your enthusiasm but David Haye is vastly overrated imo. People are so quick to forget Jean Marc Mormeck had him clambering. Wlad for all his criticisms should beat Haye and end his career but they will only fight when the publicity has been cranked to the maximum and it pays to fightDaGOD wrote:Top opponents? Re: Emmanuel Steward
good comparison with wlad and lennox. Lewis seemed to be the early prototype for wlad , at least in his career up to the golota kayo in 1997. but like you say unlike wlad lewis couldGodfather of Dole wrote:Lennox Lewis wasn't a Yank, he was also quite clinical, but he was often showcased on HBO. Sure, Lewis had a bit more devil and colour than WK but the criteria that many think is holding Wlad back did not hold Lewis back. HBO may just have recognised that WK is a very poor man's Lewis and does not offer a long-term viewing future, he'll never truly unify the belts as long as his brother is around.Coco wrote:That has much more to do with him being a non yankRampage101 wrote: Agree, but its that exact 'winning' formula that stopped HBO showing the fight.
Lewis had a goal, heavyweight unification. The Klit debacle means that the division is currently held in thrall to a odd mathematical formula.
Klit + Klit = 0 [joy] for the fans but x 1Klit + Haye (- 1Klit) x Klit2 (- 2 Klits) = If Haye losses then there will be no unified champion and the division remains moribund but if Haye wins x 2 then we'll have a champion and HBO will be back onboard. JIM!
fight brutally on the inside, he had brutal uppercuts ,much better combinations ability and more power than wlad and consequently u saw kayoes like botha, rahman II, and Tyson.

Re: Emmanuel Steward
Lewis also held a shot a lot better than Wlad - although people said he was chinny, he was only stopped by hard hitting heavyweights who hit him absolutely flush with a peach of a shot.mugabi wrote:good comparison with wlad and lennox. Re: Emmanuel Steward
Emanuel Steward don't produce crowd pleasers these days, he teaches really awkward punchng style for a tall guy, but he's record speaks for itself. All his fighters are predomintly tall for ther weight. Think people shud see how haye deals wit ruiz first befor passin judgement on klitchko, klitchkos right hand is one of the best in boxin, but he is so borin lolDaGOD wrote:What does he bring to Wladimir?

Re: Emmanuel Steward
Well Manny sure did wake him up in that last round ! I haven't seen Wlad fight so aggressively with hooks to the body and face since the Ray Mercer fight !
Haye has won a razorthin, arguable decision against Valuev, a man who throws arm punches and would have gotten beaten by Chambers !
Wlad mopped the floor with Chambers and would easily knockout Valuev.
