Terrible heavyweight scene
the heavyweight scene is a disgrace
Klitschko - chambers was awful
I think haye could have taken out both of them last night LOL. Chambers didn't even try and if he is one of the best around then the division is in serious trouble. Good knockout from klitschko, but he only seems to have a two punch repatoire and that's it, he is so limited and cautious.
When you compare the welterweight division to the heavyweight division, the contrast in quality between the two is huge and an embarrassment to the bigger guys. Not sure what the answer is or if there is an answer, but its sad to see how the heavyweight division has declined since the 1990s

Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
Mayweather or Lewis bore us with using the 1-2-1-2 and its seens as great tactical boxing, Klit does it and it's boring. They just can't get past the jab and Wlad doesn't give them a chance!!! Clever yes, exciting probably not...but if you look at Wlads and Vitali's knockout records then they guys do hit the canvas!!!
Haye really brought excitement back to the divison against Valuev with his three punches a round I know but we need stop going like the Klits are shite, that's just ignorant!!!

Big difference.Do you think Haye would have played it so safe against an opponent 5ins smaller and 3 stone lighter? 1 snooze fest in his entire career does not a boring fighter Haye make. Wlad and his big bruvva have been invloved in at least 10 of thre top 15 moist boring heavyweight title fights in my memory. Jab jab right hand back off repeat x 10

Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
I thought Klitschko was good he broke Chambers down nicely and his jab was as always brilliant. He is such a good ring general. And what a shot to finish it
Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
Agreed. Wlad does what he needs to do and knocks most of his opponents out. Why does he need to revert to uppercuts when he's always so much taller than his opponents? Why fight inside when he can keep his opponent at reach behind that ferocious jab?alexpaterson wrote:I thought Klitschko was good he broke Chambers down nicely and his jab was as always brilliant. He plays to his strengths, and boy he is strong at them. He may not be the most elegant boxer to watch that there has ever been, but he fills stadia and makes a lot of money.
Thought Chambers came to win last night and started brightly (albeit not winning a round on my card) but definitely had intent until the last round or two. More than can be said for Johnson's pathetic effort against Vitali.
He's much bigger than heavyweights in previous era's and maybe (I'm definitely not saying this is the case) the current heavyweight scene is not that awful, maybe the Klits are just too good at what they do. Given the pyhsical condition some of these heavyweights come in at, i think it is a bit of both.
The acid test will come against Haye, because he is built up as a top heavyweight, will he be able to get past the jab? If he lands, yes Wlad will stay down, but if Wlad's right hand lands, Haye is staying down too.
All in all, Wlad ain't the prettiest boxer, but he is damn fornicating good at what he does, which in my opinion is underrated.
Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
Another thing you gotta give the Klits credit for, they probably don't need to because they are so much better, but they always come in in tip top shape.BIGMARK wrote:good post and fighters like Solis for example may have more raw talent but lack the conditioning so for my money will always be up againstFinch wrote:Agreed. Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
I think that a lot of people are making exuses for what is an appalling division.......
The Klitschko's are average at best and the rest are just bums. The best of the 1990's are way above whats on offer now and i doubt that David Haye would have got near a world title back then. He beat a lumbering freek over 12 rounds and i would bank my last pennny on him beating the Klitschko's, particularly Wlad, who has'nt a hope in hell of beating Haye. I am normally right on such things, as i predicted Haye would win a heavyweight title two years ago to howls of derision from so called diehard boxing fans. If a chinny, decent, but not exceptional cruiserweight can win a version of the heavyweight title in only his third fight against a guy who had only lost once to other heavyweights, including the best on offer..............That really says it all
It's a dud division

Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
You'd bet your every last penny that a chinny cruiserweight who you consider to be simply decent would beat both Klitschko's? Full blown heavyweights with great power and boxing brains who have been dominating the division for years? Makes no sense to me.Quixall wrote:I think that a lot of people are making exuses for what is an appalling division.......

And Wlad doesn't have a hope in hell of beating a chinny cruiserweight who squeaked past the untalented and light hitting Valuev? The same cruiserweight who was dropped by Mock, Mormeck, and knocked out multiple times in the amateurs?
I would like to hear the reasoning behind such ridiculous suggestions.
Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
I'm a huge fan of Haye, but aren't you forgetting his cruiserweight borefest against Ismail Abdoul that undoubtedly constituted the worst fight I've seen in recent years?Rampage101 wrote: 1 snooze fest in his entire career does not a boring fighter Haye make.
Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
That was a dreadful fight, was supposed to got to that one. Thank god I didn't. Haye's speech afterwards on how he has proved he can go 12 rounds was rubbish as well, yes you can go 12 rounds when you only have to throw 4 jabs per round.Deserter wrote:I'm a huge fan of Haye, but aren't you forgetting his cruiserweight borefest against Ismail Abdoul that undoubtedly constituted the worst fight I've seen in recent years?Rampage101 wrote: 1 snooze fest in his entire career does not a boring fighter Haye make.
I'd like to think with Haye's combination of skills, footwork, punch speed and power he would provide the Klits with their toughest test at the moment. I don't think he would win but with Haye's marketing ability I think he could definitely bring some big attention back to the heavyweight division. Look at how many people were prepared to go to Gelsenkirken to watch him fight Wlad before he beat Valuev and got himself a belt (and an appearance on any TV show that would have him)
Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
If I knew I could beat any other HW out there by being cautious and adopting a jab jab right hand, but if I went gung ho I'd be sparked, I know which option I'd adopt. Klitchko plays to his strengths, so many armchair fans and amateur fighters seem to think its an easy predictable fighting style to work out and conquor, yet none of the top challengers can formulate a plan to beat the brothers.

Re: Terrible heavyweight scene
Wouldnt have changed his fight tactics, would it ?
knew thats the wy he'd fight though, the only way wasnt it. I do wonder if he'd landed THAT punch earlier in the fight if he wouldve gone for the KO a bit more.
