if he calls a boxer "KID" tonight i swear i'll pull my teeth out

i guess it's alright calling a boxer "kid" when talking about amir khan but he said it about larry holmes " now that kid could punch" when the bbc showed an interview with holmes last year.....

Wait for Bunce (if he's there) to use some hilarious phrase that no-one has ever used before!

Alternatively I can imagine something like this...

"Now Clinton Woods... this really is the last chance saloon... fourth world title fight...most people are lucky to get one!" etc etc followed by

"Woods fought Johnson close both times and ... let's not forget... Johnson KO'ed Roy Jones Jr and Antonio Tarver!"

Replaced tonight by "Let's get it right Ron"

Expect also a jerky camera framed all wrong, as usual , with Ronald's head snarling downwards from his 9 foot being.
Jim Neilly will be keen to close out his boxing commentator 'career' in style, surely we must get an exhibition of 'wasn't too far away with that right hand' and 'a lovely little touch of gloves there' and maybe even a 'Johnson lost all those years ago to the great Bernard Hopkins, who since beating Willy Yoppy has outboxed our very own Howard Eastman'

I can't wait, it will bring a tear to my eye.

Just wondering but as this is Woods' 4th crack at a world title is this the most world title challenges ever made by a British boxer?

Oh, hang on, Frank Bruno had 4 cracks as well.

Duke McKenzie always manages to throw in an "Absolutely right...." or "He certainly has...." to every reply. I was creasing when Woods was on the verge of stopping Hoye as both Duke and Jim got all excited "He's gone...." bellowed Duke and Jim "He has stopped the man they thought couldn't be stopped" and then ran off a tiresome list of Hoye's attributes followed by another re-run of all Woods failed challenges...it was a glorious end to a stuttering but unforgettable Boxing stint....i'll miss you BBC

I made it 55 seconds into the 1st round. Remembered your post and pissed myself when 'kid' came out so soon.

As for BBC coverage, good on both Woods and Haye for ogling for further coverage. BBC must be shooting themselves - they could have championship boxing - even with Tarver/Johnson?Calzaghe featured live for relative peanuts. I'd rather see that than extended highlights of Fulham-Charlton.

lol @ Riddick, spot on. I actually liked Duke's commentating, always rather listen to an articulate, ex-fighter like him or RJJ than a rummy like Merchant or the bumbling Foreman. Can't say I'll miss Buncey's "Lets 'ave it right" though. Shame if the beeb do jack it in, I heard a rumour a while back that ITV were getting back into the game though?

I wonder if McKenzie looks on here, I was terribly cheated...! At one point during the commentary I heard him say...

"Beautiful shot by Clinton right down the.......the middle"

Every other time I've ever heard him say it is ALWAYS 'down the pipe.'

I'm surprised no-one picked up the biggest mistake of the night. It was a geniune slip of the tongue by Neilly so unfair to criticise that much.
