Absolutely ZERO chance of Brook ever facing Hatton, for all sorts of reasons.

he loves linking himself with names......Judah...Nuumbembe.....Brook..(i.e. massively better fighters) if he doesn't fancy it he just says he can beat them anyway cos they're not as good, or he gets on the fone to rent-a-Ukranian.

Really don't like him hope he gets beat.

Watson schooled his ass, to which Hatton came back with....I had a bad night that night I was off form I'm actually a better fighter than Watson and I'd beat Watson in a rematch.

Francis Jones did him back in 03 with a broken hand, according to both Mccrory and Darke, by 2 rounds over 6, but it was given a draw. Jones couldn't get a rematch for love nor fcking money.

When did Jones get a rematch??????? He lost his first ever pro fight over 6 bruising rounds on points to Ali Nuumbembe and the next day there was an email......Do you want to fight Matthew Hatton on Friday?? Jones went, believing he'd "punch a hole in Hatton".....however was exhausted after a round or 2. It took Hatton 6 to get the job done on his physically weakened opponent from the week before, when Jones was pulled out (correctly) by his corner, whilst pleading for one more round ......After which Hatton claimed he was "better class of fighter than Jones".

Francis subsequently gave what Jim Watt described as the "best losing effort in a British title fight he'd seen in a long long time, that was unlikely to be bettered any time soon....." losing RSF12 to Kevin Anderson ....(Anderson has not won since).......whereas the "classier" Monsieur Hatton has done, oh wait............absolutely Jack Sh*t on the British Scene.

Come on old man Branco
a lot of valid points there tbh. :OhYes:

he doesn't deserve the chance in all truth.

in an ideal world he should be trying to win a british title.

or an area title. :D

Yeah, generally agree.

He hasn't really "earned" the right to fight for the title, other than being someone's brother. (But then, thats how it goes)

This habit of avoiding good domestic opponents (and the British Title), and fighting "selected" foreign opponents, isn't good.

"Selective" opponents was a big feature of Ricky Hatton's career , up until the end (ie Mayweather onwards.)

Hatton to stop him, but only because Branco is washed up. Just about beat Lynes and was losing to the Finnish dude who Lynes jabbed to a 120/108 victory, before it got stopped due to 'cuts and swelling.'

Hatton TKO6.

But it means feck all - that's what I think anyways.

Branco is an old fox and past his best but will be too good for Matthew Hatton. 8)

Branco has that crafty, elusive Italian style - no chance a second rate pug like Matthew Hatton of cornering him and giving him a good going over.

The eyetie gets it on points! Bravo Gianluca!

Whilst I agree, the shot may not have been 'earned' in the sense as we usually know it.

In years gone by Matthew Hatton has been frozen out of the British scene a fair bit.

Perhaps if Matthew wins against Branco (which i think he shall be) then it will make him a more attractive fight to the other British welters out there, whom will have an opportunity to add his name to their record, but more importantly, a fairly prestigious title.

Therefore i'm all for it and wish him luck.

On the subject of the EBU... is it just me or do the Italians seem to challenge for this belt more often than any other country actually in Europe ?

I've lost count of the amount of attempts by Cristian Sanavia, Branco, Maludrottu, Giuseppe Lauri on the title over the years.

If a strap becomes vacant, you can bet the house on an Italian being in the other corner. Obviously this has nothing to do with the EBU office being in Rome does it folks ?

Who hope Branco will be the winner don't know how people from Rome (branco is from Rome) are unpolite and uncorrect!
Branco is an old good boxer nothing more. He never won the world title, he won only european belt in so long carrier. Branco won against Lynes and Toppola only because the buts were in Italy. THANKS GOD THIS BOUT WILL BE IN ENGLAND. He didn't deserve to win the title and he don't deserve to win tomorrow.
I hope the home fans help Mattew to win the title. He is young, he is strong, he can do it.

Eric Armit - who knows more about the boards than anyone else I know (or probably even don't know) says the EBU are the best of the lot. That's good enough for me.

I was shocked to see a video of Branco at the press conference here in the UK. That man has pulled out of a ridiculous number of bouts and the way he ducked Junior Witter a few years back was shameful. He must either be very confident of beating Hatton or is being paid very well. I see this as Branco collecting a last pay check before retirement with Hatton either winning on points or Branco retiring on his stool.

I think Matthew gets far too much stick. He is a decent fighter, fought on level terms against Ndou and although I'm not "in the know" I get the impression it is hardly all his fault that he is yet to face the best in Britain. He strikes me as the type of guy who will fight whoever they put in front of him. Remember many posters were predicting an easy nights work for Ndou but it turned out to be far from it.

Ah, I dunno.

It's a title with an "elegibility area" like any other. Challengers seem to almost be taken at random (especially the "opponents").

Strictly, in "pure" terms that would never happen in real boxing nowadays, a man should be champion of his country, then fight for the championship of his continent, then the World.

I met him at the weigh-in and he is actually a really nice guy. Don't understand why people don't like him - jealousy because of his brother perhaps ?
