Duran Caferro named semi-finalist for AAU Sullivan Award.

Post by Kolya »

This award goes to the Outstanding Amateur athlete of the year, and seeing some of the competition he's up against, I'm going to ask you all to vote for him, and pass it on to your friends in boxing to vote for him as well. It would be a big boost for USA Boxing if he won this I think, and he's worked so hard for so long to get to where he's at now, he deserves it. Vote here:

Thanks for the heads up Kolya. I am sending info out to all my contacts. I am also telling all the boxers at the USA v Italy dual on Saturday and will congratulate Duran. That is quite an honor and Duran is a nice kid and deserves it. I bet Duran Sr. is very proud and rightfuly so. These are great stories for amateur boxing.

These is a great way to show our support. I just cast my vote for Duran!! Zeddie knew about it and did not say a word. I will try to get everyone to vote. Dennis, in this economy, you are about to shell out $250.00 for a ticket? Please do some cheering for me Saturday lol.

Everyone needs to vote for Duran. I will definitely be cheering for Zeddie. I hope he has worked on some of the things I mentioned to him back in October. If he has improved on those few things, his Italian opponent better watch out. Z has a lot of potential and being young, he has a lot of upside. Now that Gomez and Benavides are out of the picture, Zeddie has a clear path to ownership of that weight class.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say I know we have people from all different LBCs here. Three big ones I know are Dennis up in Michigan, Mel in SoCal and DC back in the PVA. If you guys have mailing lists for your LBCs, let's get this link passed around. We might not be getting a lot of help from the National office lately, but we can all stick together and look out for our own this way.

There is over 13,000 votes and I know that Duran has received at least 10 today. If we can keep getting him votes, he has a chance. Let everyone know to vote for Duran.

I also sent the info to USA Boxing and they said it would be up on their website today. I will check to see if it is.

I don't see it on the website yet, but there is a video of the USA boxers preparing for the Italians at the OTC, including Duran.

Zeddie and Duran are roommates. I let him know that we are all pulling for him. Duran seems like a very nice and well deserving young man. It's good to let these guys and gals know that we love and SUPPORT them. I think Zeddie took your recommendations to heart Dennis. It's funny, they had their body fat tested this week. That was one of your suggestions :TU: .

Zmommi - I think it is a good idea for boxers to know their body composition and learn about nutrition, etc. I won't discuss my suggestions on this public forum as I don't want to give away anything to Z's opponent. I am glad that he took my suggestions to heart as I only wanted to help Z get even better. I would like to see him succeed at the international level.

Yes, Duran is a nice, young man and deserving.
