If I was Clinton, I'd get over to Belfast for Calzaghe - Magee and collar Joe in his post-fight interview, and dangle the IBF belt in front of him. And then tell him to earn a shot. The BBC were well out of order bringing Calzaghe into the post fight stuff, when it should have been Woods' moment. But Calzaghe shouldn't have been on the phone, other than to say 'well done'. I think he's more talented than Woods, but he's prepared to defend the WBO strap against consistently crap oppponents, whilst Clinton has been in against the P4P no 1, the guy who's now the top man at 175, and even tonight, it was considered a 50/50 fight for most.

He should tell Joe to take a running jump. Or, if Joe really wants a shot for a real belt, Clinton should say 'OK, but we do it in Sheffield, and I get 90% of the purse'. Then we'll see how much Calzaghe wants it.

Sorry, but I've been losing respect for Calzaghe for a while now. And after tonight Woods definately deserves more than Joe.

I would hate for Woods to give Calzaghe a shot - unless he fights a live fight for once as a proper eliminator. Calzaghe is the only fighter, the only fighter in the whole boxing world I genuinely want to see knocked unconscious in the opening round as brutally as possible. I'd have immediately favoured Calzaghe before Woods' performance tonight, but the more I think about it: how would Joe do in with a real light-heavy who was bigger than him? How would Calzaghe - Hoye have panned out? I'm not completely sure...

Going by their last performences I have to go with Woods I think that Calzaghe is past his best and is now open to the counters. But I think that Woods has been in with the better men and will do a number on him. Joe has basically been sluming for far too long against pretty dire challengers.

Joe has never fought a genuine light heavyweight, and has been feasting on the bottom feeders of his own division, i think anyone who thinks that he's going to simply walk through woods is dreaming. he may win, but it won't be an easy night.

i have to say that wasn't very classy from the Beeb, putting clinton on the spot like that, and i don't blame him for knocking away the headset. What i don't get is that Calzaghe is a sky tv fighter, though of course the beeb may not be showing any more boxing.

I don't think Calzageh will win for a number of resons

1) Calzageh will not be strong enough at Light Heavy and will be pushed around the ring

2) Woods is getting better and the new title will make him more confident and probably improve his talent no end.

3) Calzaghe hasn't been in a real contest against a top opponent for a long time and Magee will do little to get him used to that level of opposition

4) Woods has had valuble fights even in the ones he has lost and the titles he has fought for are ones where you don't get to choose your opponents

5) Calzaghe is not as good a fighter as everyone thinks he has never had any defining fights because Warren knows he would loose them and much as he makes out he wants but cant get them that is so much hot air because you can not hold a title for 8 years and 14 fights without comming close to loosing without trying hard.

The question now is who does Clinton fight for, BBC are out by all accounts and even Mr Alegedly is soon up for a new deal with Sky if he can get it.

I too believe Calzaghe has no right in getting a crack at Woods, he`s never fought in the division so how does he think he has a right to fight for a title, make him prove his worth there first, make him fight Peter Oboh.......he`ll soon change his mind

But with the openings now and if Woods can`t get Johnson or even Tarver then Calzaghe may well be his only big fight out there, sadly Calzaghe may just worm his self into the picture, and that is whats wrong with the game, it gets more like a circus the higher you get.

i have a feeling this fight won't happen. Calzaghe will probably demand the lions' share of the purse, and woods will probably tell him to go poke it.

Why not try and make a unification fight with Tiozzo after a relatively soft defence.
