Michael Sprott vs Audley Harrison - your pick!

Post by el_grande_mauro_mina »

I like Michael Sprott - I think his style would have been better for campaigning in the states where his fast hands and feet could have got him UDs against those lazy American heavyweights than in Europe. He fights them all on the European circuit and win, lose or draw - is a fighter a really rate highly.

I think though lightning cannot strike twice vs big Audley for the EBU title when they meet. I can see Audley playing it safe and boxing behind his jab to outbox and stop Sprotty in the later rounds to become EBU champion - I'll say this though - this is a tougher proposition for Audley than Albert Sosnowski who I thought was perfect for Audley to outbox, bust up and stop in 8 rounds.

I thought Audrey was struggling with coleman barretts pressure, and his biggest problem is his mind set, how will he feel facing the man who knocked his block off first time round. For that reason im picking sprott to pick up the win again.

Audley went into the Sprott fight on the back of his mullering of Williams, by far the best performance of his career so confidence was high. After the kayo he was back in his shell for Arias and Rogan and looked troubled by Barrett. I am certain that he won't be looking to engage at all like he did in their first fight. This isn't Lennox-Rahman 2. If Sprott comes out aggressively I see an Audley points loss. And that really would be last orders in the last chance saloon.

Harrison for me, I think he can keep him at range, using his jab and reach, I dont see Sprott being able to get underneath Audleys' punches. I see Harrison stopping him in the middle rounds

Harrison to make Sprotty eat jab all night and nullify any aggression. Sprott will get frustrated and will walk onto a Harrison straight right, I am going for Audley by KO before the 7th.

I expect Audley to be more cautious than usual(if thats possible!) given Sprott sparked him in fight 1.

Sprott can be negative too so lets hope he actually takes it to Audley a bit.

I'm backing Sprott on points.

maybe there not world class but audley will always hold a love hate fascination due to the character he is and sprott is a well like fighter , your views of them are irrelivant , as anyone who steps into the ring with the intentions of fighting another fighter is a true warrior , some warriors are better than others but i hate seeing any boxer belittled like that , ive boxed myself and i promote and i know that not everyone has the balls to fight , far from it , most will pretend to , but its different when it actually comes to it

Harrison UD. He was winning the first fight comfortably until he got over eager (well, by Audley's standards) and walked onto a big shot.

I also have fought so I know what courage it takes to climb in the ring & my comments were in no way to belittle either man just an observation on as another poster commented what have either man done to deserve a shot at what was once a creditable title

Audley, big time. The first fight was more a case of him losing it than Sprott winning it. He had Sprott over early and in his shell. To tell the truth, Sprott looked intimidated. Then Audley inexplicably let him off the hook, and he paid the price.

Now, Audley should be confident coming off Prizefighter, and if Williams 2 was anything to go by, he can get the job done in rematches. Further, Sprott seems to have settled into a "high class journeyman" role and has been inactive for quite a while (50-odd seconds the other week notwithstanding; that won't have shed much rust), and has also been through a bad bereavement recently.

As for the question as to how much doubt will be in Audley's mind when facing someone who KO'd him so brutally, that is of course unknown, but consider this: it was a one-punch KO, and a clean knockout. He probably doesn't even remember it. Therefore, with no memory of the trauma, he might not have as much trepidation as someone facing a man who gave him more a beatdown-type defeat (like Bruno going back in with Tyson).

i think fiddle is a very good word to describe how harrison will perform. sprott will have a huge pyschological edge against a mentally weak opponent, by their first fight of course and hes also motivated to perform in memory of the tragedy that happened to his sister. i dont think aud can cope with an opponent whos looking to take him out.
also worryingly the winner may well get fed to a klitschko
