Murray shouldnt winge. When Mezzache pulled out he was offered a good money fight on UK and USA tv (showtime) against an undefeated American contender, which would have been great to watch and great for Murray's pocket. However, Murray rejected the chance.
So don't feel sympathy for Murray, he has had his chances.

Also you cant just leave a promoter like that. He is probably tied to a contract for another 3 years or so.

Murray is losing ground & momentum big time with things like this happening frequently in his career! If John does not fulfill his full potential, then inactivity will prove to have been a big contribution towards him doing so!

i didn't understand from the article who he is facing next, McAllister or Gethin, it seemed to imply both? or am i being stupid?
anyways, Gethin - Murray would be an excellent fight and I would really like Martin to get the shot, albeit I am sure Murray is everything Gethin is but better and sadly i would probably pick Murray to stop him unless Gethin's punch resistance is off the charts (his defence certainly isn't).

it wont be mcalister hes out injured

You'd think John Watson would get the shot seeing as he beat Gethin in an eliminator.Counter-puncher wrote:i didn't understand from the article who he is facing next, McAllister or Gethin, it seemed to imply both? or am i being stupid?

Guess this is boxing though.

edit so i assume its the prestigious english belt that's putting Gethin first in line...
anyways Watson got lucky, etc etc
Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped
i thought watson by 2 or 3 rounds, it will do him alot of good fighting someonme like willie limond hopefully he rises to the challang and beats limond him v murray would be a good local derby
Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped

Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped
When someone pulls out against one of FW's fighters normally 2 of FW's boys fight each other for the vacant belt

Is that true? Who was the undefeated american?Jab and Move wrote:Murray shouldnt winge. if he's still with him, probably he's still contracted to fight for hennessy...MrBoxingUK2 wrote:john murray just leave hennessy if your bothered about being inactive

he shouldn't "whinge"? not even after not one, but two, top rated european contenders duck him?Jab and Move wrote:Murray shouldnt winge. nice how you use the words "undefeated american contender" to dress up an ordinary name such as henry "hank" lundy, who has had a draw and a split decision which questions the worth of the whole unbeaten thing anyway.
fact is, murray v mezaache was going to be shobox and EBU title. mezaache pulled out. murray then had to choose either a short notice fight in america, or a european title shot. he chose the latter, which he was entitled to, surely.
now his chance will likely come against lee mcallister. going over old ground vs a guy who wants to push you to the ropes and hold on to the ropes, as hard and as long as he can. i would surely "whinge" if i was on the shelf, with only mcallister to look forward to.
Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped
All the more reason to take the fight, surely? Better than taking on someone you've already beaten, with showtime on the table, I'd have thought that would've been a much sweeter option?Autobarn wrote:nice how you use the words "undefeated american contender" to dress up an ordinary name such as henry "hank" lundy, who has had a draw and a split decision which questions the worth of the whole unbeaten thing anyway.
Lundy doesn't look that bad from the blurry clips on youtube, looks pretty handy actually. A lightweight coming up, lacks a big punch, still quite green, put over by Abril... why on earth didn't Murray take the fight?

He could have fought in America and then fought for the European title after.Autobarn wrote:murray then had to choose either a short notice fight in america, or a european title shot. he chose the latter, which he was entitled to, surely.
