ok, because his opponent was american, he should have fought him.
it is a shame re murray's long mooted showtime fight, though. 1st time, a canadian fight, he had an accident. then fewkes pulled out. it is a bit of a grim irony that he chooses the EBU fight over the shobox date, then the EBU fight collapses.
i think we need to blame the likes of mezaache and kudriavtsev - who don't want to get mangled up for anything less than a world title payday - for what has happened. isn't kudriavtsev going to get fined and banned from european title fights for a while now?
the way i see it. it's the same old bullshit, whenever a european has to come to britain for a european title fight. they either pull out injured so thay they can try to get the fight at home, or they pull out at the last minute full stop.
Murray Euro bout scrapped
Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped
matthew hatton wins euro title before john murray. how sad. and ppl question why murray chose the european title over a shobox date.

He didn't choose the European title over a ShoBox date, he could have done both.Autobarn wrote:matthew hatton wins euro title before john murray. how sad. and ppl question why murray chose the european title over a shobox date.
He didn't have a date lined up for the European title shot, but he decided to stay inactive even though there was a good chance there would be messy negotiations and further pull outs et cetera.
Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped
it's easy to say he could have done both. easy for you to say that. let's say he took the shobox date. then kudriavtsev would have probably fought some guy, and if successful would have messed murray about afterward.
like i say, lawton, matthew hatton, getting title shots before murray. if anyone's entitled to a european title shot it's murray. he's beaten several fighters ranked in the EBU top ten. stopped them as well. meager, thaxton, lawton, mcallister.

Why would he mess Murray around? I don't get it.Autobarn wrote:it's easy to say he could have done both. easy for you to say that. let's say he took the shobox date. then kudriavtsev would have probably fought some guy, and if successful would have messed murray about afterward.
He deserves a European title fight and he is getting one.Autobarn wrote:like i say, lawton, matthew hatton, getting title shots before murray. if anyone's entitled to a european title shot it's murray. he's beaten several fighters ranked in the EBU top ten. stopped them as well. meager, thaxton, lawton, mcallister.

Not a lot I can argue with what you have written - John Murray is a class act - although defensively I would like him to tighten up a tadge especially when his chance eventually comes along.Autobarn wrote:it's easy to say he could have done both. easy for you to say that. let's say he took the shobox date. then kudriavtsev would have probably fought some guy, and if successful would have messed murray about afterward.

John Murray reminds me of Jamie Moore and Howard Eastman in respect of how long they hung around for their chance of a shot at the big time.
John is a young lad - I keep getting told patience is a virtue and the rewards for the hard work are just around the corner - I hope thats the case for John.
Re: Murray Euro bout scrapped
Good point about Murray being in a similar situation to Jamie Moore. I think Howard had two great chances after beating Robert McCracken, but blew them himself, certainly the Joppy one
