Why are the Guzman/Beard threads being removed?

Post by ALI »

I've used this forum daily now for 7 years, but i've never gotten involved in the polotricks behind the scenes, but i'd like an explination as to why the 'Guzman 9lbs over weight' and the 'Lee Beard - great job' threads were deleted.

I seen nothing libelous, no false allegations, only fair criticism. This is a very serious matter and is something many of us are keen to discuss, the very reason we log onto this place!

Explination please, i for one feel i'm owed it.

What a fcuking joke, what moron had the brains to do that then?

Guzman coming in 9lbs over weight is breaking news, its headline stuff, and clearly deserves a thread all of its own. It could only have been up for a short period of time and was already close to a page long, surely thats proof enough of its worth!!! Attatching it to some 'Guzman, open workout' thread that was started one month ago and is now 4 pages long is just outright stupid. We'd be aswell as canning it altogether.

Who are the moderators of this forum, can we order an IQ test please!

It's common practice to merge threads on a similar/same subject.

One poster has already replied in the thread, so it can't be that much of a problem.

Are you responsible?

Can you explain to me the similarity (other than Guzman's name) between a thread that was started one month ago about Guzman giving an open workout, to a current, breaking news thread started today about Guzman coming in 9lbs over weight???

No i'm not responsible, i'm not a Mod on the B&I Forum.

I'd imagine the threads were merged because they all involve Guzman. Doesn't take to much to work out that any threads relating to him will have been merged with the earlier, busier thread.

Its piss poor moderating, thats what it is. It kills the hype being built up around fights and it kills the buzz of the forum IMO. I agree that on occassion threads need merging, but it should be done with some forethought! Again, Guzman comming in 9lbs over weight is headline stuff and deserves its own thread, and should certainly not be merged with a one month old open workout thread. I really cannot grasp how anyone could think otherwise, it was a god damn hot topic and was getting replied to left right and center, it would likely have been 3 pages long by the end of today...... now, no knew visitors will even know its being discussed unless they stumble into the old open workout thread. Brainless, fcuking brainless!

Merging is fine, but it has to be done with some common sense!!!

Who's the moderator/s responsible for the merging, anybody?

Hot topic? 11 replies total over the two threads.

Any questions, I suggest sending a PM to a B&I Mod. :TU:

Do you care to explain your reasoning behind this instance of merging, or are you the totalitarian type?

I wouldn't normally say anything about this but surely the point is, in this case anyway, breaking news gets filed away under an old thread subject and is easily missed by forum users.

If I hadn't read this thread I wouldn't have known about Guzman being ridiculously overweight.

I can see why similar threads would be merged - if a couple about rbr's crop up at the same time or several on the same topic appear at once but just because they are about the same boxer doesn't mean they should automatically be merged, they are about totally different subjects.

Just my thoughts anyway and not a personal attack.

The recent influx of 'mods' lets this place down.

Who exactly are the moderators of the British/Irish forums, i personally have no idea.

This lacollier883 is surely having a laugh, serious doubts have to be raised about this guys credentials as a mod, he's surely just a wind up merchant. But it just goes to show, its anybody's guess as to who's moderating this place!
