John O'Donnell / Craig Watson Rematch

Post by b0ndl1ne »

Could this ever happen?

Is there a reason why O'Donnell hasn't been out since the Glover fight?

I think O'Donnell has been stripped of his Commonwealth title. So, I think it is unlikely that they will fight in a non-title fight.

I thought the fight could have gone either way.

I'd like to see a rematch.

I would like to see this as well, I think O'Donnell will stop him this time, but I don't think this fight will happen, shame.

Not much point in it happening now O'Donnell has been stripped. Watson should look at getting himself mandatory for the British light-welterweight title. You could argue he deserves to be made mandatory right now, after his stoppage of former champion Barrie Jones. Very good win that - completely flew under my radar.

me too. assuming he makes the weight ok- i would imagine Watson is very very strong at 140- I could see him really making some waves at 140.

Barrie Jones is not a former champion. It is a good win but I don't really think a win over Jones should make someone the mandatory challenger.

It wont happen. Not becasue O'Donell is scared, but he is moving on now to better things. The winner goes to better things and the loser, Watson has nowhere to go.

Maybe Watson could see if he can get a shot at the cental area title, thats his league and he could do it, good luck to the lad.

Watson is a former Commonwealth champion, which he only lost on a split decision, and he holds a win over the reigning European champion. Now you think he is at Area title level?

Also, O'Donnell doesn't seem to be moving on to anthing at the moment.

If o donnell is moving on then why hasn't he yet. In my opition craig has boxed in much better class than john. craig has boxed hatton, numbmbe, lomax, jones, menasria who has john boxed ?? That's it nobodys

An don't forget the fight they had was a split decision so that must mean that o donnell is only area title level if he can't be up someone like Watson !!

 My bad, was getting confused with Barry Morrison - he is a former champ. Memory is not quite what it was, must be the alcohol consumption!

Hopefully O'Donnell will fight Watson again. I'd like to see Hatton fight Watson again. He keeps fighting for all these titles against 40 year old men. Why not take on Watson again?

Agreed, Watson had it by at least 2. Maybe Hatton will make a voluntary of the European, but I doubt it.

Hatton won't fight Watson. If you look at 'Magic Hatton's' record there is a trend. His last fights are : Ben Tackie (mid forties), N'Dou I(forty), Branco (40). Watson is far too young! 8)

Add to that the fact Watson beat him easily before - will not happen.
