Blame loss on weight-making: Check.
Also blame loss on lack of commitment from trainer: Check.
Think most of us could have seen his comments coming a mile off. Interesting that pre-fight he said the following:
"The fight is set at 8-11. He hasn't fought above that but I have done it at 8-13. That's gonna make me so strong come fight night. Look, I'm already nine stone and there is about three weeks to the fight. That means I only need lose three pounds, I'm gonna do that easy.”
I don't mean to be too harsh on him, but it just always looks so undignified when fighters reel out a string of the same old excuses for a loss and if weight-making really was to blame then why the pop at the trainer? Doesn't do himself any favours imo.

Think it is just a re-evaluation of his career and where it is heading...the extra few pounds did hurt him, but more than that I think he wants the extra experience in the corner, that wasn't the reason for the defeat, just like he was asking 'where am I going?'
I see your point though Deserter, think he has been hit hard by this

He was Hit Harder by Russell though
Sorry couldnt resist.
He was beat by a really good boxer so no shame was caught with cracking counter punch

Yeh, maybe I'm being too harsh on him as I'm not judging it in isolation but in the context of reading similar excuses week in, week out, so you just get tired of hearing it. However, I do think that ultimately boxers are adults and have to accept responsibility for their actions i.e. he chose to still fight despite saying he didn't feel right beforehand, and he chose to have that trainer and that training routine. Nobody forced him to do either.thepocketrocket wrote:Think it is just a re-evaluation of his career and where it is heading...the extra few pounds did hurt him, but more than that I think he wants the extra experience in the corner, that wasn't the reason for the defeat, just like he was asking 'where am I going?'

It's funny how when boxers win they never talk about how they managed it despite feeling weak from making the weight or having a poor trainer

Very good
Nah, he knows Russell is quality, no talk of a lucky punch, just that he wasn't 100% and against some like Stephen that helps!!
Hope both go on to do well, good fighters and great guys!

Russell is a decent fighter whos his manager why has he bin so inactive??
Re: Economides....'Lose my next one and I retire!!!
It was Barry Hughes but hes out of the boxing game for now
I thought the winner of that fight was getting a deakl with Hatton but doesnt seem to have happened ,
Most of thescottish boxers were very unactive last year or so due to Hughes Problems
there seems to be distinct lack of shows up here now.
Also these guys are 2 dangerous to be brought to England as opponents.
