Hopkins looking to fight Haye vs Ruiz winner next

Post by hollins »

I think Hopkins will prevail against Roy and he is making waves for this match.

Hopkins vs Ruiz would be a horrific fight to watch but I think Hopkins would outsmart him..

As for Hopkins vs Haye, I'm sure plenty on here think Haye would blast him out or win easily, but I actually pick 45/46 year old Hopkins to beat Haye. When has Hopkins ever been hurt or KOd? He has the power to KO Haye though in my opinion and will be the best boxer Haye has ever faced in his entire life. It's not hard to imagine him walking Haye onto one of those sneaky right hands, the kind that dropped Calzaghe. Lets not forget his experience and the fact that he is like a chamelion in the ring and can change and adapt in any way. Not to mention his liking for, shall we say, "old pro" moves. (in other words, dirty tactics).

And yet I'm sure most on the forum think Haye would blast Hopkins out.

One thing is sure.. a fight in America, on HBOPPV, that will put millions in Hayes pocket and put a KO beside Bernards name on Hayes resume, will look enticing to Haye and I can certainly see this fight happening.

wlad and vitali were big fights for haye when he pulled out of fighting them too.

Hopkins is a big name who brings in money and stateside recognition and a KO win over him, even at this age, would be a very good win that a lot of people would like to see

Hopkins doesnt have the power to KO haye! Fighting at light heavy is a whole different kettle of fish to fighting at heavyweight im pretty sure hopkins wouldnt be able take a clean shot from a power puncher like haye.

Having said that i think there is a small chance the fight might be made.

Imagine if Ruiz won and then fought Hopkins.

Losses to Hopkins, Jones and Toney.

I remember Nico's middleweight days, rumor is that he was killing himself to make weight.

I would put money on Hopkins to "old man" Haye over twelve in America. The guy really knows what he's doing.Joe squeaked by him, because of his style, and even Bernard said "they should have that guy in the Beijing Olympics"(due to Joe's punch output)

I agree i think people are confusing Haye for a middleweight, i honestly think Haye would end his career via coma.

If Haye beats Ruiz which I think he should after a couple of dramas - then if Hopkins wants a fight - why not???

The money behind such a fight will be such that a fool would only turn down.

To be honest i'd like to see it? It would probably be a bigger fight (viewing wise) than Haye v klitschko, boost hayes popularity, plus i'd love to see hopkins destroyed lol

hopkins has great defense and ring awareness. but he's not good enough offensively to fight a talented heavyweight. this is a guy who had to back off from calaghe's slaps, who had to foul echols/keith holmes/robert allen to try and gain a physical advantage. this is a guy who let jermain taylor off the hook. hopkins even in his prime didn't want to do any more than absolutely necessary.

i think this thread is for sentimental ppl, and dreamers who want to imagine another title in hopkins' collection.

just imagine how cagey he'll be as a heavyweight. hardly a good spectacle, is it?

come on, wlad is such a bigger fight. wlad's mando povetkin isn't ready. so it'll be wlad v haye. one right punch and haye could be THE heavyweight champ of the world. wlad is a massive scap for haye and this is surely what we should be debating...hmm?

lolenga mock was good enough offensively to have the power to drop Haye heavily, I reckon Hopkins has the power to do that too.

He wouldn't need to though, he could just simply outbox Haye from distance.

Outbox Haye? lol - Haye probably the quicked most skilled heavyweight in the world. How is hopkins going to outbox haye carrying what 2 or 3 extra stone?

Hilarious.

Haye is more skilled than Hopkins?? You realize how dumb that sounds?

Name one person on hayes record who even has half of the boxing ability of hopkins.

No chance Haye is outboxing Bernard Hopkins mate.

Don't argue with this guy when it comes to Haye. He also said once "if Haye wasn't the greatest technical boxer on the planet, the pope isn't holy" I remember this because it was simply so idiotic.
