No.

It's a punch from a known strong puncher.

We can't see for sure, due to the angle, but his head hits the floor- that might have been a factor.

Add that he had just been boxing for over half an hour.

i'm not sure. It's a bit like what kids do playfighting if you're getting a whupping or tired, fall over in the hope your attacker will back off....only it's World Title boxing.

Looking at that I just don't see where Dirrell' foot actually SLIPS across the ring, so going down LOOKS voluntary. Then he appears to convulse and comes round awfully quickly. Even the delay from the blow to going over doesn't look right although Abraham definitely catches him. He's an extremely fit bloke Dirrell but was probably knackered in there which won't have helped.

It would be real bad thing to think of the sport to say without doubt that Dirrell faked it, but it looks a bit dodgy. So I'm voting not sure!

EDIT.......the right foot of Dirrell clearly slides about a foot or 2, which cos the vid wasn't playing properly I didn't notice 1st time. I don't especially like the hands to the face job a-la-Rivaldo when a ball hit him in the stomach, but there was still a solid connection made upon a tired, stricken man.

I'd have to give Dirrell the benefit of the doubt and say it's GENUINE, only I've already cast my vote as not sure.

Abraham caught him right on the button.... with his thumb.

I'm as convinced as I can be that Dirrell put on a show. The whole reaction looked totally staged. Of course, I could be wrong, but I can live with that. I found his imitation of a brain damaged boxer while he was lying there twitching to be beyond pathetic.

Compare to Benn McCleannan.

Some (twats) could say "that looked staged." But we all know it wasn't.

We should all be hoping that Dirrell is in good health and has suffered no lasting damage from that fight.

Nothing like Benn -McClellan, to be honest.

AD did play the incident up, all that talk of convulsion's and possible bleeding on the brain was rubbish, as it was never the case. Just a smoke screen to validate what he did.

He did it, good luck to him, and it was Abraham's fault, no querstion

AA was coming on strong and was relentless. The sad thing is that he could have got up and continued to the end and won the decision, no debate, even though he would have had some tense, hard moments before the end.

Whatever, its done, some ppl will think it is genuine, others wont.

I think from the first angle it looks like he has caught him and it is genuine, but from the second it looks like he barely touched him. If a gun was put to my head I'd say he faked it, but it's difficult to know for sure and Abraham does have concussive power.

Do you have anything at all to confirm that?

The ringside dotor gave an opinion, and Dirrell was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

For sure, he probably IS OK, and we all hope he is- but none the less, I'm not sure how valid this speculation is.

The concern for Dirrell from the ringside professionals did seem totally genuine.

The contest wasnt brutal, like Benn - McClellan or Quiroga - Akeem. And yes, one punch can change everything, but that was not the case in this fight.

Taking someone to the hospital, as a precaution, does not mean that it was convulsions or bleeding, despite what the American commentators and the ringside doctors said. The guy did what he had to do, and then needed it to be validated, thats it.

Most boxers go the the hospital, as a precaution.

AD will continue, there wont be any lasting effects, but not a great way to get a win.

PS This is not an anti-American thing, for the record I thought he beat Froch.

The doctors have to show concern to be safe but to me it looks dodgy.
At the end of the 10th the tide was turning and dirrell is very clever by the looks of things.
AA was frustrated and should have kept his cool as he was getting to him and fucked it up in frustration

For sure- although what I mean is that there is, as yet, no medical proof that there wasn't any injury.

Yes, if there HAD been a serious injury, then we would have known about it through the media already. But I havn't read anywhere yet that he has been discharged with a clean bill of health.

But at this stage, it still remains the case that it could be something more serious- and certainly not faked.

Bradley Stone and Felix Bwalya both tragically died after a bout- both didn't show immediate effects of the injuries.

Paul Ingle too is another boxer who suffered serious injuries after a fight, despite not taking a clear "knockout punch."

Yes, Ingle was "weight drained" and exhausted, but Dirrell was very very tired too - consider why he went down at all.

My point here is that these things can happen- a boxer can be incapacitated late in a fight (which in my opinion, Dirrell certainly was) .

We should be hoping he is OK, not speculating that he is a faker.

Dirrell ought to become a premiership footballer... He goes down easier than Drogba, Rooney and Eduardo.

Dirrell was clearly winning the fight so why would he risk it. You're saying he all of the sudden thought "hang about, i'm going to fake going into shock here"? People often react in strange ways when they take a knockout blow, doesn't look that staged to me. Wouldn't be the first time a guy had a delayed reaction would it

I was just thinking the flip side of the coin.
youre in the 11th round feeling weak and the guy your fighting is starting to bust you up.
if the oppertunity to win the fight by dq presents itself what would you do?

I know what i would do and it wouldnt please the fans :DDD

People be acting like there was a 10 second delay or something, He gets and seconds later he is down. Look how much his head gets snapped back by AA's 'thumb'. Think some of you'll need to go specsavers if you dont think AA hit him cleanly. Go and watch his fight against Kheron Gevor to see what power this guy packs

No surprise by the identity of the thread starter

It does look odd but if I was going to chance it, I think I'd just lay there and not move for a while rather than include all the other stuff. I'm undecided

I think he made a meal of it. He seemed to scrape his face with his arm. Imo there was contact, he is a big puncher so it hurt, but watching it i think he made it more dramatic than what it actually was

There was no risk, if you get hit while down, and then go into "convulsions", there's no way the doc lets you fight on and it's a dead cert DSQ.
He over cooked it alright, AA had just had his best round of the fight and it was going to be a long 6 minutes ahead. A spilt second decision by Dirrell, and I think he really regreted it after....he could have probably have hung on and got a brilliant win under his belt - the ref would have given him 5 minutes to recover too, and 1 or 2 points off AA as well.

A fighter goes into convulsions, then gets up a few minutes later and leaves the ring under his own steam? Never seen that before.
