Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
If Haye can take care of Ruiz, forget a big summer showdown with Wlad or Vitali, he has to fight the beast from the east again as there was a rematch clause in the fight contract.
It will be much harder for Haye to market another fight with Valuev. He said last time he would KO him and then ran from him for 12 rounds, so he cant really start saying he's going to destroy him again as it will start to get boring.
This will only happen if he can take care of Ruiz, who is a mucgh harder opponent than Valuev, although the beast beat Ruiz. Ruiz can cause problems for Haye and I wouldn't be suprised if he wins a close decision.

This won't happen IMO - Haye will pay him off / side step him. That's if he beats Ruiz which I'm not 100% sure he will!

Why would Valuev sidestep him? He avoided the Klitschko fight so he can rematch Haye. Sauerland have option son Haye and the rematch clause.MacTavish wrote:This won't happen IMO - Haye will pay him off / side step him. That's if he beats Ruiz which I'm not 100% sure he will!
I said straight after the first Valuev fight this would happen, part of the problem with jumping the queue.

Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
No they will pay Valuev to step aside and wait in line, much like Tyson did with Lewis.
It makes sense for Valuev, as otherwise Haye could just bin the belt anyway.

Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
Exactly - no way will Haye fight Valuev without his payday with 1-2 of the Klits first.
Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
Where does Valuev go if he doesn't fight Haye again? He has no belt and turned down a massive payday against Vitali for what exactly?

No chance. No promoter will want to put that on, as no one will turn up to see it. And no TV station will want to show it either.
Another 12 rounds of Haye, dancing around the ring, throwing one punch per round at the lumbering beast? I don't think so.
With the millions on offer for a Klit fight ( IF he gets by Ruiz ) they will easily be able to afford to throw a few mill at Valuev and tell him to take a hike.

You have two types of champions, those who treat belts like whores (Hatton) and those who treat belts like wives (Klitchkos)
Haye would probably like to be in Hattons position but his marketability in my opinion is not 'belt-proof'. Besides, Klitchkos want the belt so him dropping it does not help the fight get made. He needs the strap and I just cant see him paying Valuev not to fight and I cant see Valeuv accepting it anyway. He turned down Klitchko and I guess it wasnt because he wanted to fight Eddie Chambers
Good luck selling the rematch on Sky.

I think Valuev is probably looking for the payoff anyway, he must know that no network is going to pay to restage that fiasco. It was one of the most boring world heavyweight title fights I've ever seen.

I`d have to disagree there my friend .. and say, It was THE MOST BORING WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT EVER!
Can anybody name a worse contest? I certainly can not :(

it would be more appealing for valuev and his team and fans than it would be for haye , plus i reckon valuev , despite losing last time sees haye as a winnable fight and a chance to regain a world title , this may still happen , although im sure haye would not be too keen .
Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
Vitali vs Johnson ran it close but Haye/Valuev is probably just ahead.tonyevs wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Valuev is probably looking for the payoff anyway, he must know that no network is going to pay to restage that fiasco. No I can't think of a worse one, possibly because I've erased the memory.tonyevs wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Valuev is probably looking for the payoff anyway, he must know that no network is going to pay to restage that fiasco. Imagine watching it as a neutral?? You'd be unconcious after 3 rounds.
On one hand, it's amazing Haye didn't get slated for such a passive showing, but he gets a pass ( even from the yanks, even more amazing ) because people are just so fed up with the grey faced champs we've had at HW for years now, we'll even settle for a fight like that -ANYTHING to liven things up.
He gets a pass because "that was the only way he could win".......but it's also a strong possibility he could have won if he'd stepped in and knocked Valuev spark out in 2 rounds.
As he maybe found out in the last round.

In the long run I think we will find Haye is just a HW who won a version of the HW title. I cant see him belonging to the same club as the Klits or Lewis and I wont mention Ali (sorry I have).

What were the punch stats on the fight you mention? I`m sure they aren`t as low as the contest between Haye and the giant.
If haye outboxed the giant with fancy/clever skills .. maybe that would have not been so bad ... but he didn`t. He ran all night skirting the ring and only throwing less than a dozen meaninful punches each round. Valuev was a terrible example of a defending world champ .. how does somebody that poor get to even hold a version??
Where as haye .. how does somebody that negative get the decision?????????????

At least Vitali was TRYING to land shots on Johnson. Neither Valuev OR Haye seemed intent on landing anything of note for 11 of 12 rounds.Deno1986 wrote:Vitali vs Johnson ran it close but Haye/Valuev is probably just ahead.tonyevs wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Valuev is probably looking for the payoff anyway, he must know that no network is going to pay to restage that fiasco. I'm willing to give haye the benefit of the doubt, that he wanted to win the belt at all costs, and that he will perhaps be more aggressive against Wlad or Vitali - whether he can be successful doing so is another matter, time will tell.

Klitschko v Rahman was the worst fight ever imho.Deno1986 wrote:Vitali vs Johnson ran it close but Haye/Valuev is probably just ahead.tonyevs wrote:jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Valuev is probably looking for the payoff anyway, he must know that no network is going to pay to restage that fiasco. Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
Quite a fascinating subject and one that has alot of depth.
Haye needs to keep the belt for the negotiating table with Wladimir. (Now that Vitali has stepped aside)
Valuev, well he is with big Don K but I don't think he's one of Dons most prized possessions while David is a glimmer in Goldenboys eyes.
King/Valuev will step aside - it makes sense for them and if Vitali still needs an opponent after his next easy assignment then Valuev will step in there.
King is probably the greatest promoter in the last 30 years but now the GBP have taken over. King is not dumb and will be agreeable - it makes money for him.

Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
valuev doesn't want the fight - he said he's sick of fighting cruiserweights. obviously all his promoter can do is get him ranked for WBA title fights.
haye can beat ruiz, dump the WBA title before it becomes an albatross, and head into a fight with one of the chuckle brothers.
the chuckle brothers could do with a big fight, whether haye goes into the fight with a title or not. haye will draw big PPV in britain, and help get a bigger crowd in germany with his infantile showing off.

there is the possibility however, that the Chuckles use the lack of a belt as an excuse not to fight him, which is the danger.Autobarn wrote:valuev doesn't want the fight - he said he's sick of fighting cruiserweights. obviously all his promoter can do is get him ranked for WBA title fights.

I'm sure the WBA can rustle up some fake title or other to humour Valuev...

They'll let David fight Wlad and make him a Super Champ and Valuev regular.Riddick Blowe wrote:I'm sure the WBA can rustle up some fake title or other to humour Valuev...
Re: Haye vs Valuev in the summer - oh boy!
maybe, but i think vitali would rather be fighting someone bigger than sosnowski who draws good crowds to small halls in certain parts of england. and i think wlad has a big fight opening because povetkin - the IBF mando since last year or the year before - is still dithering on whether or not to challenge. atlas has basically admitted they need more fights to be ready. i think wlad will get the fight with haye, but i thik negotiations will be a pain in the arse.jamesmcdonnell wrote:there is the possibility however, that the Chuckles use the lack of a belt as an excuse not to fight him, which is the danger.Autobarn wrote:valuev doesn't want the fight - he said he's sick of fighting cruiserweights. obviously all his promoter can do is get him ranked for WBA title fights.

if haye gets the fight, i hope he gambles a bit, tries to land some massive shots. he has proven good at "taking" chins that are carried high (gurov, macca).
it's almost like the chuckle brothers have a free pass. none of their challengers even wants to take the necessary risk to land their shots. they are basically fighting guys that want to survive. i don't mind seeing haye lose; i just want him to put up a good fight, and land enough bombs to perhaps bring closer the retirement of one of the chuckle brothers.
