So he wants to get off his box...to someone like him the thought of knocking the pints back and getting fat probably repulses him, makes him feel a fat slob......so he opts for the calorie-free alternative lol??

If he were a normal sort of a fella he'd probably not touch the sh*t. It's not my cup of tea (coke), and yes it's illegal....but should non-boozers not be allowed to get of their tits as well as the rest of us??

What causes more aggro in the pubs and clubs....Coke or Booze??? Think we all know the answer there.
i think you need to talk to frank

booze & coke go hand in hand ;;-) people do coke too drink & stay up longer.
:TU: Dunno of anyone who does coke without the alcohol, plus cokeheads can be a lot more aggressive

He prob can't drink much either so needs a stimulant, or he would be going home legless at 10pm

The story about him being pissed up was there, with pictures, the week before.
The insinuation there was he wasn't just pissed, if you are refering to the article where Joe appears to be snogging his sister (which was the bigger part of the story). It wasn't titled Joe in drink shocker. The selling point of that article was the fact he was snogging his sister.

The other article where Joe looks in a state doesn't mention drink or drunk in it once. This is the one where Joe pulls another bird and not his new celeb Russian piece. That article mentioned "deer in the highlights" (e.g. wide eyed) but doesn't mention drink or being drunk.

Getting pictures of people looking worst for wear (no matter how it is done) will always make the news. However, I don't think Joe would have made the news if he just would have discussed to that fake sheik "yeah, I do like clubbing once a fortnight drinking about 8 pints of stella so I am merry and then go home".

Whether it should be or not (another bigger debate) coccaine is illegal, as is prostitution, so stories involving these acts will be considered "scandalous" and will sell papers.

It wasn't what Joe said about Hatton, Naz etc that made the headline, or anything else. It was what Joe said.

Can see why you wrote the article though Ian, glad you are making a stance against this type of journalism.

I feel a little sorry for Calzaghe, not for being duped but because I think he's clearly struggling to come to terms with retirement and probably doen't really know who he is right now. On the one hand he's slating Froch almost as if he's still a prospective opponent, and on the other he's become a tabloid front-page concern, which is purportedly the last thing he would have wanted to have become (unless he's getting a taste for 'celeb' (bork) 'culture' now).

I hope he comes to terms with his retirement soon and enjoys the rest of his life and doesn't compromise himself any further. He seems to be living a life that he has always said held no appeal to him, probably because that's what 'famous' people do nowadays and he still needs some sort of 'buzz' in his life. It would be a real shame if he ended up another of boxing's hard-luck stories, especially given the fact that he's one of the few that retired on top.

PS: good work Ian - I hope more of these f*cking hypocritical, holier-than-though scumbags get theirs. It's too easy to pick faults in others from a high horse without any thought for the consequences. Smug bastards. The scary thing is that it's these people that inform the opinions, including political ffs, of millions :witzend:

Fame comes with its advantages, money, influence, fans, people bending over backwards to accommodate you, opening avenues normal people simply cant get to amongst other things however it has disadvantages like the public spotlight and wide scale derision that comes when exposed for doing something that if a normal person was caught doing nobody would care a damn about. Its a double edged sword and Calzaghe got cut because of his own fault and trying to make out like that the journalist is all at fault and a scumbag for exposing him is simply incorrect. The bottom line is we live in a culture where the most trivial of things related to celebrities are reported and lapped up by the masses. There are entire magazines devoted to this type of nonsense and maybe just maybe Mamood is the kind of guy who has helped journalistic media slide down into the abyss of mediocrity where a pimple on some star's face is news but for that the blame cant entirely lie with one person. The public is equally guilty and since when has doing a class A drugs been just a bit of party fun. I have at first hand seen the devastating effects of cocaine abuse and no I am not saying Calzaghe is there yet but maybe it was a blessing in disguise for him to re-evaluate his life and behaviour. IMO the article is bit crappy in the sense that it seeks to isolate and discredit the journalist for reporting what is the norm these days albeit a bit sensationalist.

I can see that this guy is a regular scumbag though:

in the article there's a photo of the journalist and next to it it says, "this is supposedly the man himself".

does that mean you're not sure if it's him?

i hope not!

got to say, it's not been a happy or graceful retirement so far, has it? sniping re froch, the "find out everything for 50p" stuff, the dancing program, the nervous appearance at one of those awards ceremonies (i think he was next to jonathon ross), and jacking in the promiting very early on.

as afan i was mostly infuriated by his fighting days, but i sincerely hope it works out for him and i hope ppl don't start calling him joe cokezaghe - or joe coke for short!

You seem to all be missing the point. Sure, this type of journalism is low but the fact remains Joe is bang on the gear and openly offered to supply some to someone he hardly knew. Would you all be happy if he peddled this shit to your Son or Daughter in a club after a copuple of meetings?

Have any of you ever seen what this stuff is doing to people first hand or the wider damage it is causing our society?

What ever happened to the law governing 'intent to supply a class A drug'? Why hasn't he been nicked? If he had made these comments to a undercover Policeman he's be looking at a stretch and rightly so, a drug dealer is a drug dealer whether he's peddling a £40 bag of a ton of pure.

Just because he's Joe Calzaghe doesn't mean it's okay at all and how he got trapped is not really the main issue here is it. The fact is he's admitted taking drugs and was happy to supply it too.

Maybe you wouldn't be so forgiving if the same thing involved a hoodie in a blacked out BMW parked at the end of your street. It's the same thing in my book, or may be worse because Calzaghe is already a Multi-Millionaire.

You make some good points here and maybe people have been a bit too laissez-faire on all this. People do get long stretches for this.

Someone more legally clued up would have to tell me but I guess it probably wouldn't stand up in court (rather like the same journalist's attempts to get a group of immigrants sent down to try and make a Victoria Beckham kidnap non-story stand up, thereby wasting a load of public money). Entrapment, they even admit they brought up the issue, etc.

Hey, the law isn't perfect. I believe Calzaghe is owed a huge amount of money awarded to him by a High Court judge and he still hasn't seen it.

Disappointed with Ian's article.

Name calling drags you down to the level that you protest to hate.

Just my opinion.

To be honest mate, I don't give a toss about it. The idea that Coke dealers are prowling the streets trying to sell it to kids or hanging outside the school is laughable. Coke dealers supply people who want to buy coke, it's a supply and demand thing, and the whole reason that there's a black market for it, is because it is illegal - the drug laws clearly don't work and never will.

I'm sure Joe doesn't need the money, and if he was offering to supply it, it was helping someone out. The police aren't in the slightest bit interested in this sort of thing, it's a waste of their time. In fact the chief of police a couple of years ago, said they would rather than drugs were legalised, because it is easier to control.

To be honest, I've always thought Calzaghe was a bit of a nob, I've nothing against him per se, but his personality always irked me a bit, this doesn't alter my opinion one jot in either direction.
