After reading through this it'll be good to see how Darren does against this guy, Boxing is all about opportunities and taking them!! This is not down to Darren for the making of this fight and NO ONE can knock him for taking it either!! Fine if people are not happy about who he is fighting BUT that simply is not down to him, I personally feel Darren has not yet had the break he deserves!! This is his chance and I would pesonally really like to see him do it!! Good Luck to the lad!! Also Andy Lee did beat him in the am's and Im pretty sure it was at the worlds and the olympic place was on the line but I could be wrong??

I'll also say this though, Am boxing and Pro boxing are 2 totally different games!! One is a game of tick at times while the other is the most brutal sport you can wish to see at times.. :TU:

Looking forward to the fight, should be good. The guy will come out and try and ruff Barker up, but we will see how good Barker is. I think Barkers skills and accuracy will prove to much and stop him late on.
Now lets stop bickering about who will beat who, im sure and hope these's fights happen? And imo Barker will beat the likes of Macklin Moore and adam lees is it? I think Barker deserves this chance who ever its against. AND IM SURE HE'LL GO ON TO BE A WORLD CHAMPION?!?!? But we'll see. :bag: :box:

That doesn't mean much in the pro game. Look at Cotto and Muhammad Abdullaev.

Would you suggestion that it is ignored then and provides absolutely no indication on how a fight in the pro ranks would go? Also I think it would be interesting to see what % of fighters make a reversal amatuer losses.

Obviously not. That's why I said it doesn't mean "much".

Lee was holding on for dear life against Belghecham but to be fair he had dominated to that point. But why on earth was the Frenchman so passive until the end?

Ste, I think you are over exaggerating the trouble that Lee was in when Belghecham caught Lee with five minutes to go. People criticised Lee for not tying Vera up in their fight and then when he ties Belghecham up with 5 seconds to go he is accused of "holding on for dear life". I think that Lee's reaction immediately after the bell shows the we wasnt in any real trouble!

From Andy Lee via Johnny Stapleton "I heard Darren Barker is fighting Belghecham for the European title, I think it's a bit of a joke, the guy that I just beat gets to fight for a vacant title. I think Barker will win by an easy points decision. Hopefully I can fight the winner but I'm not sure if Barker would fight me."

what you have to understand slapbang is that barker didnt' pick belgecham. and im sure we would all like to see barker vs lee but that isn't how things work..lee is ranked 9th by the ebu and belgencham 11th, neither should be fighting for the title, why would barker be scared of lee when he wants a fight with macklin who is three times better then lee? that last left hook by belgencham had lee in big trouble

it actually seems a great opportunity (european title) for little risk (more andy lee leftovers). a guy like belgecham isn't going to be in a position to twat about, fake injury, or pull out at the last minute in pursuit of a world title elim (like the usual EBU challengers/champs do).

it's a shame barker can't land the big domestic or euro opponent. it's a shame lee, duddy and a few others aren't a bit more willing, IMO.

it looks like barker will win and end up defending vs some real hard nut, in a high risk bout (proska).

Eh, how do you figure that one out? Lee said he wants the fight and would take the fight or fight the winner.

Duddy wouldnt be interested in fighting the likes of Barker as the reward wouldnt match the risk.
