David Tua undefeated since 2001.
David Tua undefeated since 2001.
Can the Tuaman pull off something at 37.
He seems to be back focused on his boxing and has a nice high ranking with the WBO. He is in better condition than he has been for a while.
Last night he showed, although I aint seen the fight, that he can still do 12 rounds with a wide points win over gatekeeper Friday Ahunyana. It was his previous performance, against Shane Cameron, that got me thinking about him being in the mix again.
Okay, Cameron fought like a deer in the headlights and in reality wasn't worthy of being in the same ring. However, Tua still looked quick handed and delivered combinations with a killer instinct thats been lacking in the devision.
It might be a long shot, although a lot more realistic than Tyson. It would be great to see him back in the mix. I think heavyweight devision needs a spark - it might be Haye, but it could be Tua also.

To short to mix it with the bigger elite guys.
LL showed us the blueprint on how to beat him.
AS i said earlier surely a guy of his height can get down to cruiserweight.
Boxrec has him at 5ft10!! im that height and weigh 12.5 stone.

He hasn't got your frame though I bet.
Yes, he could trim off more weight, but he is bigger than Tyson and there is no way Tyson could have fought at 14stone 4.
Big difference between Lennox Lewis and a 38 year old Vitali Klitchsko and Wladmir Klitchsko.

Problem for Tua is that his power, his most potent weapon, seems to have gone. He's lost so much of the speed and snap that generated those devastating hooks and without that, he's just a short heavyweight.stujones wrote:Can the Tuaman pull off something at 37.

I'd give him little to no chance against either brother. I also think he'd be stopped, either on cuts, or forced to retire.
Re: David Tua undefeated since 2001.
Power didn't look gone against Cameron. Thats what caught my eye. Snap looked back.
He's back under 240 lbs now..... thats helped. Looked sharp and powerful in 2 of his 3 fights since he's sheded nearly 10 lbs. Not sure how he looked last night. Friday is a survivor though, good chin.

does anyone still care anymore.
Re: David Tua undefeated since 2001.
If you watched klitchsko vs chambers, or Klitchsko vs Johnson you'd care. We need someone that could potentially pose a threat.hitman_hatton1 wrote:does anyone still care anymore.

edit haha poncey beat me to it
Re: David Tua undefeated since 2001.
I'd currently pick Tua to KO Haye (unfortunately). In contrast, I can see Haye stopping Ruiz and Valuev (if that rematch does come off). Just think the Tuaman is all wrong for Haye in terms of his combination of durability and power.

I'd love to see Tua back in the mix. As good as the Klitschko's are, they're boring as hell. Tua brings potential excitement back into the division. Good to see his weight down as well. I hope he gets another fight sorted sharpish against a ranked opponent. Soznowski has shown it doesn't take much to get a shot at the title these days.Tua's got a good a chance as any of the current crop of "contenders" of beating the Klits.

Stop this, the Klitschkos are good propaganda please. You wont brainwash me.
VK beats some of the most fat, soporiphic heavyweights in history and who does he fight next? Albert Sosnowski!
Does he ever fight anyone who can either a) punch or b) reach him?
Pathetic. I refuse to give VK credit for beating fat Danny, fat Corrie, fat Kirk, fat Samuel and whoever the other fat guys he's faced were.
Abject misery their respective reigns have been.
As for his brother, if he were a football manager he'd play Messi at sweeper, Ronaldo at right back and Rooney holding in midfield.

Best/most consistent/dangerous ten heavyweights since 1998?
Lewis, Haye, Valuev, Ruiz, Holyfield, Byrd....erm Maskaev, Briggs, Tua, Golota, McCall, Sanders, Povetkin, Chagaev, Brewster........
Perhaps you could remind me of the victories Vitali holds against these dozen or so?
One versus Sanders who was semi-retired and still shook him to the core? Is that it or have I missed someone?
VK's resume is emptier than Nadine Coyle's fridge.
I forgot fat Juan and fat Chris in my list by the way.

And you cannot make an amalgam of their achievements, they are separate people.Wales wrote:Come on Dave, they've beaten everyone out there, havent they ?
VK has beaten nobody of significance.
Is there a single victory against someone who would make the top 200 heavyweights of all time?
Who is his best win is it Sam 19stones of molasses Peter or Corrie The Golfer Sanders?
Re: David Tua undefeated since 2001.
Wasn't Tua supposed to be fighting Arreola next? That would have been a fun fight. Boxrec shows Arreola up against Adamek. Anybody know what happened?
Re: David Tua undefeated since 2001.
One of those fights (Arreola Adamek) I'd really like to watch, but know full well british TV wont pick it up

Re: David Tua undefeated since 2001.
I never understood why Tua hasn't been pushing himself into the top heavyweight mix...... he's been taking on journeymen.... I'm not sure if its too late for him now at 37? But he's been taking it too slow.
He still has the power, he always had a good chin... the right opponent could outbox him from afar.... yet he always has that punchers chance.
Time isn't on Tua's side.... he'd better step it up in terms of class of opponent nad climb that ladder if he wants another title shot

There is a reason why Tua hasn't pushed it too hard in recent years.
Anyone with a decent gameplan and half decent jab and workrate would beat him.
He is done.

And he could knock cold anyone who meets him...Probably why he does not get offers to fight every up and coming boxer who wants a name on their record. In such a weak division,Tua has a chanceyiddo14 wrote:There is a reason why Tua hasn't pushed it too hard in recent years.
