Official Haye Predictions !!

Post by Jeff Thomas »

Hi. I'm a newb- sorry if I've done something wrong here but couldn't understand why there was no predictions been made for this fight.

Just wandering if anyone fancies having a guess about this weekends big fight?

I've been milling it over and I actually think this may turn out to be a good little fight. I think that its actually quite tricky to call based on Ruiz's rugged style and the intangibles presented by only Hayes third big fight at the weight.

Ruiz has been around for ever it seems and on taking a closer look at his record there is some real quality on there. Post prime Golota (w12), post prime Tucker (Rsf 11), Fres Oquendo (Rsf 11), Hasim Rahman (W12), Kirk Johnson (DQ10), Evander Holyfield (W12), Jameel Mcline (W12). Going further back in time, and perhaps down a level or two he has impressive wins over Jerry Ballard (Rsf 3), Ray Anis (Rsf 1), a then in form Jimmy Thunder (W12), Yuri Yelisstratov (Rsf 3), Micheal Murray (rsf 4) and Julius Francis (KO 4). Add to that the 'win' over Valuev and you have a fairly impressive resume from a seemingly moderately skilled fighter.

Going back a few years, before the Tua fight, Ruiz who was sparring Lennox was actually considered the pick of the young heavyweights coming through, this despite two losses on his card. He was much more of a boxer then the crude hugger he has evolved into and his jab was very impressive. The Tua embarassment must have took a great deal to overcome, and that he has rebuilt to become one of the most consistantly dependable heavyweights of the last decade- is mightily impressive.

Haye obviously is the bookies choice, he's the man in form and his regular appearences on TV and in the national papers will make him an even bigger favourite come first bell saturday evening. However I just wonder if Ruiz might just make this return to the UK not quite the glorius return Haye is hoping for.

I don't think that Haye, one of my favourite fighters, is going to be able to put a dent in him. He hits hard enough to get Ruiz's respect but I don't forsee Ruiz caving like Monte Barrett- I also think that he will be able to land the jab on Haye who has a habit of becoming immobile when looking for the big shots. I don't quite think it will be enough to take the title back to the states but I feel that the fight will go the distance and that Haye will probably have to really pull out the stops to nick a close one on points- maybe getting busted up and climbing off the floor enroute. I will be amazed if has the power to stop Ruiz or the skill to pick him apart like Jones or Toney.

Haye W12 115-113 prob winning 5 of the first 8 rounds.

I predict haye to ko ruiz in 5 or 6. Ruiz got sparked by Tua in 1 and i think haye hits as hard if not harder.

Haye within three rounds.

Have gone for round 3 on the Prediction Leagues but can see it being 1st or 2nd.

John knows how to hold so could escape the 1st - I see Haye as being his heaviest ever for a reason - he is going blasting. Ruiz is old, looked awful last time out and is going to get spanked.

Your so full of Haye's balls it it's ridicolous. No way Haye hits harder than Tua, and even if he did with the speed and amazing ability you seem to think he has, why would it take him 5 rounds longer than Tua?

I think Haye will come out more agressively than he did against Valuev and look to make up for his poor showing in his last fight. Ruiz is a tough guy, but slow, limited, and starting to slow down. I think this will allow Haye to land frequently with fast punches, and by about the eigth round Ruiz will be ready to go. Haye is unpredicatble though, he could come out and fight cautiously or get caught with something, I never feel confident predicting the results of his fights.

Ruiz around the time he fought Holyfield, I'd give him a shot but not now. He's 39, not very active and based on his last fight Haye will be too fast and powerful for him. Haye in around six rounds possibly a couple earlier.

"ridicolous" lol, because i dont think tua could repeat his 19 second ko. Of course you could be right Haye is really slow after all.

Would you explain why you think Haye hits harder than Tua? And I do think your comments are "ridicolous", you go on all the time about how fast Haye is, how technically proficient he is, and now you think he hits harder than Tua and is recognized as the hardest puncher in the world. If he possess all these attributes like you say he does, than he would be the perfect fighter and would not have just squeaked by the slow and plodding Valuev, or hit the canvas against Barrett, or gone through any of the struggles he has previously. If Haye is that good and punches harder than Tua, why would it take him five or six rounds to stop a fighter as limited as Ruiz?

I think your full of shitt when it comes to Haye and you do a poor job of making your points.

Im pretty sure haye is widely considered the hardest puncher in the world (87.5% ko ratio), he's also considered by almost all to be the fastest heavyweight. i was taking the piss because of your spelling of "ridicolous" you were just too dim to notice. Now to become an undisputed world cruiser weight champion and a heavyweight world champion haye has managed to do that being a weak puncher, slow, and technically inept in your opinion.

In my personal opinion the only defect haye has is his chin and thats also what makes him exciting to watch. He squeeked past valuev fighting with a broken hand, nearly knocked him out with his left and is only the second man in valuevs 50 fight career to beat him im not to sure what you expected from him.

And as to your question about why i think it would take haye 5 or 6 rounds to take out ruiz, when it took tua 1 - the answer is because tua got lucky, maybe you should watch the fight! the odds of haye knocking ruiz out in the first are crap from the bookies because theres a very good chance it will happen and they dont want to loose their money (note the predictions from posters above).

No, Haye is not widely considered to be the hardest puncher in the world, in fact you are one of the only people I have heard say that. He has certainly not proven his power at heavyweight and did not come close to knocking out Valuev. In fact Ruiz came closer to flooring the giant in their rematch than Haye did. BTW you know that Edwin Valero has a 100% KO rate?

Can you tell me where I suggest that Haye is a weak and slow puncher? Haye is a gifted fighter with speed and power, but to suggest he hits harder than Lennox Lewis or David Tua as you have is beyond nuthuggery. If Haye was really all the things you say he is he would have stopped all his opponents in three rounds or less and not have struggled with so many of them like he has.

I expected Haye to beat Valuev impressively, which he did not. Sure only one other opponent had officially beat him, but the case can be made that Holyfield, Donald, and Ruiz, did enough to defeat him like Chagaev and these are hardly great names. Surely the a great technical boxer who hits harder than anyone on the planet, and has lightening fast hand speed would not struggle so greatly with an unskilled light hitter like Valuev.

I'm not trying to suggest Haye is a bad fighter, because he is not. He is a very talented man who I think will clearly defeat Ruiz, but he is not a great fighter and no way does he hit harder than Tua, which was the only point I was originally trying to debate.

BTW, you don't usually get after someone for misspelling when you can't even use grammar or punctuation properly.

Just watched to sky build up. Ruiz is 150-1 to win in first 60 seconds and 80-1 to win in the first round. Might donk off a cheeky tenner between the two! return of £1150 would be mighty nice, not at all likely but ya never know :box:

After watching the Ruiz's last fight against Serin, Ruiz has gone back a bit. I watched Serin get beaten by Danny Williams in Belfast and Serin was awful (so was Danny Williams that night). Ruiz looked slow and static against Serin and was holding his left too low(something Haye can take advantage off). If Haye stays on the outside, not getting too close, Haye will be too fast and powerful and take Ruiz out in style using big overhand rights within 2 rounds.
