Duran comes off as overrated when guys make silly comments like, He's easily the greatest LW of all time. He dominated, took to school, could have kayoed Sugar Ray Leonard if he wanted(in reality he won a very close fight), would stop Chavez, would take Ali in a street fight etc.

Don't forget that he once KO'd a bull with a single blow.

I couldn't disagree more. In the case of Granberry, there is such a thing as, "too much respect," at any rate. Buzz lets Gran treat him like a master kicking his dog, which comes back for it's next licking, grateful just for attention. It's painful to watch.

Alp, you can't see a case for considering Pep as number 1 Alltime ? This is a guy who was 108-1-1 before the plane crash. After that he still won another 121 fights, and with a no nonsense referee, I don't see him losing 3 of 4 with Saddler. And along with the 3 HOF'ers beat, he has wins over 3 other fighters who merit serious consideration for that select group, i,e Willie Joyce, Paddy DeMarco and Ray Famechon.

Well, he did some dirty stuff too against Saddler. Besides you have the adjust if you are the best fighter of all time.I don't think his wins compare to Greb, Robinson, Armstrong, and Langford. 3 Hall of Famers really isn't that much when you are talking about the greatest fighter of all time.
Even you count Joyce, DeMarco and Famecho, the other guys beat fighters who aren't in the Hall of Fame that could be.

They all beat many more contenders as well.

Probably not --- he was that good. People still find a way to over-rate him, though. Amazingly enough.

Not soft compared to most fighters, but compared to the other guys (Langford, Robinson, Armstrong, and Greb) it was soft. We are talking about be the best fighter of all time. I would have liked to have seen him fought several fights against the great lightweights of the day. Ike Williams, Beau Jack, Bob Montgomery. He did fight Angott once and lost.

Yes they would have a natural size advantage over Pep. However, the other greats took on great fighters that were bigger than themselves and won.
