Paul Smith vs Carl Dilks! Who wins?

Post by Jab and Move »

Both guys are top quality. Smith has a good chin, good heart. Dilks is a top boxer.

Who would win at this stage in their careers?

Magee will certainly be a tough fight for Smith, but I can assure you Magee is not world class! Lets not get carried away with the result of Magee's last fight, as good as it was

So let's see, he's on a 4-year unbeaten run and in January went to Denmark and won the European title by stopping a former world title challenger. And you call him shot?!

No. Read again. I said, ''Am I wrong in saying he's shot''. Which means I have no idea weather he is shot or not, as Ive never seen him fight, only heard about him.

Magees recent EBU title fight against Mads Larsen:

As for the thread title, I think Smith wins via a UD. Would like to see Dilks fight Dodson or Quigley first though to gauge what standard he is at.

I would think that Smith will win on points by at least 4 rounds...

Magee is not shot in my opinion... Being a current Eruopeam champion says something about his ability today. :TU:

Seriously anyone who states Magee is shot to sh*t is talking out of their fat hairy arse and is literally talking out of their shrivelled up hamster sized b*llocks.

Brian Magee make no mistake and no wind ups intended is one tough tough fight for Paul Smith.

Magee is not shot, but he is well past his prime.
He's still above domestic level though and would dispose of Smith, Dodson, Quigley, Dilks etc if they were to meet.

Groves may prove to be a different story, it'll be easier to evaluate that after his fight with Adamu.

Dilks is doing exactly what Dodson did, mouthing off to get a shot at a title.
I don't rate him, never did as an amateur when we all boxed together in uzbekistan, carl showed no heart and belief in himself yet again.
At super middle he has had one fight and regardless of what we think, on paper he lost. Now he fights a kid 5-4 and thinks that warrants a british title fight.
Go and fight Quigley, or Dodson..... In my opinion BOTH beat Dilks.

blimey smigga your due an easy night :!: if he's so poor why not ???

obviously it aint up to you who you fight, but he was facing groves in a british title eliminator & like you said he was robbed.you have to appreciate you've got a big bullseye on your back now & people will challenge.

as for magee ive watched the fight & the geezers right hand goes in the 2nd & magee was hitting low being dangerous with the head & had things pretty much his own way against a man with one hand 37 yrs old 18months inactive, so not as impressive as i initially thought.

Aren't you supposed to be fighting tonight? And your arguing your case for a fight what's AT LEAST 3 fights away from you.....
Very professional Carl ;)

You reckon you'll get to Mandatory? Before the likes of Magee, David, Anderson, Jeffries, DeGale, Groves, Quigley....??? I'll bet anyone money that you don't.

And your little dig at last minute opponents, you could have fought in front of 8000 fans in Liverpool against Bellew after mouthing off at him but rejected the fight ;)

I cannot believe I am going to do this

But I have to agree with Smigga - I think Carl Dilks is a number of fights off from fighting him - with regards to who would win that fight - naturally my heart says I would like the "ex squaddie" Dilks to prevail - however the head says Smith would win that fight at this stage - although I confess to have not seen too much of Dilks in the professional ranks.

The local rivalry and the banter on here suggests to me if the Magee/Smith fight cannot be made then logic says - why not get fights on involving Groves/Dilks/Quigley/Smith and perhaps Tony Dodson - any fights involving them lot would shift a lot of tickets.

I honestly think Magee/Smith has to be made for the good of that particular division - whether anyone else agrees or not - it is them 2 fighters who have earned their shots - with all that said I honestly believe Magee will prove to be the Number 1 - but its exciting times and it has to be said there are some nice paydays ahead for those in the Super Middleweight division.

In another 6 months you then have to bring Degale into the equation on the condition he continues his progression.
