Haroon Khan never fighting in UK again?

Im just reading this weeks boxing news magazinge and apparently Haroon has boxed his last bout in UK. It says this:

''Chris Blinkhorn won a MD over Haroon Khan. This one provoked strong reactions. Shah Khan, father of Harron (and Amir), told photographer, Robert Douglas that 'Haroon has boxed his last bout in England. He's moving to LA to train and will be boxing for Pakistan. Im tired of how my son is being treated.''

Gee, maybe they are over reacting just a tiny bit. He only lost a fight, I cant see how he is being treated badly and a need to flee the country?

Absolutley - I am sure he is going to be as proud as wearing the green of Pakistan (with two Pakistani parents - why not?) as he would have been wearing the red white and blue - besides - there is a commonwealth games coming up this year and he will want to be part of that.

Easy option?

You are joking - he will be having to contend with the fighters from the ex Soviet republics as well as India (who have some really good amateur fighters and an excellent amateur programme) China, Japan and the rest of the Asian countries - trying to qualify for Pakistan will be as hard as trying to qualify for team GB.

We all know by now that politics is such an important factor in getting picked to go to the olympics - so if you have a chance to bypass the bullshit of Londoncentric politicos in the ABA who have their favourites - then why not? Especially if the Pakistanis have guaranteed Haroon a spot at the olympic qualifiers for 2012.

In my bitterly honest opinion, a top fighter is never produced in a mansion with all the money in the world.

As an Englishman of wholly Asian descent, I couldn't conceive representing any nation other than England. That's just the way I feel.
However I don't see what the fuss is about Haroon Khan boxing for Pakistan (if the rumours are true).
He's probably not good enough to box for GB/England so it's no great loss.
Secondly plenty of English born Irish have represented Ireland in football.
Matthew Macklin always states that he regards himself as Irish despite being born in Birmingham (and yes I know that he represented England as an amateur).
Sinan Samil Sam represented Turkey as an amateur despite being born and raised in Germany.
Less than half of the last Welsh football squad announced last month were born in Wales.
Of the 21 man squad, 10 were born in England, and one in Zambia.
Boaz Myhill was born in America, to an American father and Welsh mother, and raised in England. So he qualifies to play for Wales via his mother. Which is fair enough.
Jack Collison qualified to play for Wales via a Welsh grandfather. Which is a tad tenuous.
And let's not forget that several South African born Englishman have represented England in all forms of cricket recently.
Kevin Pietersen qualified via his English mother. Which is fair enough.
Michael Lumb qualifies via his English father (who also played for Yorkshire). Which again is fair enough.
Jonathan Trott qualified via his English father. I'll reserve judgement regarding his motivation at this moment in time.
However Amjad Khan, Ed Joyce, Eoin Morgan & Craig Kieswetter have all represented England despite having no ancestral ties, and having been born and raised elsewhere.
Furthermore didn't Tyson Fury represent Ireland after he found out he had no chance of dislodging David Price from the GB squad?
