He must really want that brutal KO defeat. Each to his own, I suppose. I'd be pretty pleased to see it after tonight. :OhYes:

Hopkins should retire in my opinion. Fighting Haye would be a bad move for both men.

Do you think Haye might fancy this, to have a headline fight Stateside against a big name? It'd would really boost his profile, not neccessarily to us but to the mainstream/casual PPV customer.

I think Haye should do him and all of us a favour and knock out his carrot crunchers.

Hopkins must have been getting his practice in last night on how to deal with Hayes rabbit punches.

This would be a nightmare. As much as I would like to see Haye tool him, Hopkins finds a way to ruin every fight he is in.

for me he has to earn it.

if he wants it he should earn it.

i'd be annoyed if he walked into the fight just cos of his name.

fight a top 10 opponent in the wba ratings and earn the fight. :>

Don't be so dramatic,it was only 2 weeks ago that you were saying that a non boxer such as myself would be in no danger of suffering any serious injury if i was hit by one of tyson/lewis best shots :box:

i said hopkins-haye was bollox and i think it's obvious now.

look at hopkins' last two fights and be serious - he offers nothing to david haye. haye isn't an opportunist like danny green or calzaghe (the latter of whom gleefully cashed out vs both jones and hopkins) and he has much bigger fights to look forward to. haye also probably too much pride, and too much respect for hopkins.

the klitschko brothers are the big fights. adamek may also qualify, if he makes ppl take notice on his HBO date vs chris arreola (provided he's successful).

Well, Hopkins collapsed and went to hospital for observation after a Roy Jones fight he won every round of. I wouldn't reccomend him taking heavyweight punches.

Hopkins should look at fighting a cruiserweight if he wants another belt...

Hopkins vs Herbie Hide for the vacant WBA?

vs Cunningham for the IBF?

and then make the claim for a shot at heavyweight once he has handled that... that would be a legacy and a half...

Even if this fight got to the negotiation table proper, Hopkins would do everything he could to price himself out of the match-up. I'd say there's little to no chance of this fight happening. If it did somehow happen though, Haye would spark him without much trouble. If Hopkins wanted to make a realistic move for a belt at another weight class he should've offered Adamek sensible terms when he had the chance....

If this fight did go ahead it would only be to boost haye's profile and a pure career move. 1st round Ko imo.

Golden Boy,HBO,The Executioners last stand, doing it for the U.S.A,the reasons are starting to mount up.And when Haye sees the cash U.S T.V bring to the table,he may have a rethink

Exactly. If Hopkins does not get Haye in there, I'm pretty sure someone will throw out the idea of a rubber match between Jones-Hopkins.

I'd be very concerned for Hopkins as he is an absolute legend & an all time great, but if he fought Haye I think he would get TKO/KO'd. Hopkins has never even been close to being stopped. He like the old timers, Archie Moore, etc.

Each to their own, but going up in weight & beating Tarver is one thing, but Haye is a different proposition entirely & that's not intended to be disrespectful towards Antonio!

I do not see Haye taking on Hopkins. David has said B-Hop is someone he looked up to, admires, & Haye just wants to unify the titles! Only way David consideres B-Hop is if he's paid a massive amount, which will not happen!

I think this fight is a real possibility. With Goldenboys clout it has a very realistic chance of happening. If a fight with a Klitschko doesn't work out then an American name will do wonders for Haye's publicity stateside.

Although personally, I think Hopkins would be knocked out by Haye and should retire after avenging the one loss that has really annoyed him more than any other. There has been 17 years of bitterness over the first fight. If Hopkins can walk into a heavyweight title bout then so be it, he is THE light heavyweight champion of the world so that stands for something and Roy Jones did it so why not? B-Hop may as well use his name value wherever he can.

This is the worst idea ever. What is the best result if it comes off?

Hopkins gets KO'd at 45 by one of the hardest punching boxers on the planet? A horrible end for a great boxer and a shame. Haye comes across as a money grabbing bitch with no morals. It does nothing for anybody's legacy.

45 year old Hopkins pulls the upset and wins a decision against Haye. The Klitschko's are no longer bothered, the only fighter who has a chance against them has been embarrassed by an former middleweight old man. We are all robbed of maybe one or two great fights. Haye might as well retire or kill himself or both.

I thought Hopkins was half seriously talking about Valuev a while back. That would be HILARIOUS.

NO!!!

Haye could do real damage to Hopkins, Hopkins is very clever and crafty but Haye is bigger, stronger and such a hard puncher. I

Without question, in addition to what he's achieved in the ring - Hopkins will also be remembered for the rubbish that comes out his mouth on a regular basis!

david haye could come into the arena driving an ambulance and then park it outside the ring for his entrance, then after the 1 round fight they can put hopkins in it and drive him to hospital. Haye... HAYE the merciful!!

personally i really dont think it should be allowed hopkins has got absolutely no chance, if he went in the ring as a light heavy he might have enough speed to run from haye all night, and i say might in the loosed term. But if hopkins is carrying what 50 / 60 extra pounds he's going to be slow and pretty much a sitting duck, at 45 theres a real possibility of him getting seriously hurt.
