Haye's next opponent

Post by Finch »

OK, the obviouis choice is a Klit but let's assume "terms can't be agreed" immediately which isn't beyond the realms of possbilities.

It may sound ridiculous, but can anyone see Haye v Audley at the back end of the summer assuming Audley wins next week which I think he will. I see no other alternative; Haye was saying last night that the likes of Chambers, Johnson, Arreloa are a disgrace.... I guess the only reason to chose one of these is to beat an American to attract interest across the pond.

Love him or loathe him, Audley attracts interest (here), a battle of Britain, bad blood between the two. Haye could use it as a 'ticking' over fight before terms do get agreed with a Klit at the end of the year?

The only other viable option i see is no other than Tyson Fury; he say's himself he'd beat him for speed, power, skill and ring craft. I agree with every word he say's. :TU:

Tyson Fury was sarcasm mate. Audley on the other hand..... is it really obscene to think Haye could use him as a ticking over fight??

Sounds about right.

No way does he go anywhere near any of the K-Brothers till they show serious signs of slowing down.

Audley gets my vote if he gets past Sprott.

Think Arreola vs Adamek winner would be better choice, over in the United States.

That is provided the Klitschko fights can't be agreed.

Winner of Adamek vs Arreola is a no-brainer for me. I'd favour Haye over either and it would undoubtedly help build his profile Stateside.
By contrast, Audley would be nothing more than a marking time proposition with no real benefit to Haye's career regardless of the outcome.

Should point out Rusland Chagaev fights Kali Meehan to decide the next WBA mandatory. Ironically enough apart from the Klitschko's I think Chagaev and Povetkin are the 2 guys who could potentially be Haye's toughest opponents. Very good boxers (Povetkin being an Olympic champ and Chagaev being the first guy to topple Valuev) who can fight at pace for the 12 rounds as well as having good chins.

It's Valuev. He has a rematch clause. Can't see Don King letting that slip by.

I think if audley wins then the klits will want to fight him, i think they will flip a coin and looser will get Haye the winner will get a much more winable fight against Harrison.

Im a fan of harrison he has been a big letdown (he's so scared of getting hit) but i think on his day he can be great - the williams reamtch was a prime example (possibly the only example lol), id love to see him reach his potential. Not sure it will ever happen though.

One thing i would bet my life saving on though - Haye v Harrison will never happen ever - without harrison having a world title.

haye will either pay valuev off or try and flatten him this time especially now he knows he can hurt him.

Is there such little value placed on the European title that Harrison and Sprott are fighting for it? I understand the Sosnowski situation but these two simply don't deserve it. Does a few wins on the same night over weak opposition make you deserving of fighting for the European title? Should a fighter with 4 losses in his last 6 bouts be allowed to fight for it? I say no, Audley shouldn't be getting a shot at the European title nevermind the WBA title!

As for David Haye there are plenty of more deserving fighters out there over Audley even if he wins the Euro title. How about the Adamek-Arreola winner? Sam Peter is looking trim and knocking people out, looking to get a titleshot, how about him? Even David Tua is back on the scene, surely better than Audley?

If Adamek beats Arreola (I think he will) then Tomasz will call out Haye who recently said Adamek will be knocking on the door soon! I reckon Adamek would fancy his chances against Haye aswell.

Haye should wait till around April/May next year to fight one of the Klitschko's

Wlad would be 35 by then and Vitali would be a few months away from turning 40!

Haye needs a couple more fights this year against experienced guys

Next up should be CHAGAEV in late July/August....who will be his mandatory anyway if he beats Kali Meehan next month

Then fight Valuev in November/December if he absolutely has to due to the rematch clause but hopefully he can get out of that and fight AUDLEY HARRISON instead if he wins the European title and then can follow that up with another good win as that fight could be one of the biggest domestic fights ever in Britain and do great on PPV as well.

i think haye v harrison will eventually happen but not yet , at the mo audley needs to get a bit of momentum built up , to make him look a more credible opponent , harrison will beat sprott , and i see him then defending vs sosnowski (after he gets demolished) , then champions will think , well if a klit can fight sosnowski then i can fight who beat him , people will become interested in audley being there opponent and then maybe haye will think hes worth while , especially if harrison folllows those 2 wins up with another descent opponent like maybe Ruiz ?????? who knows , could happen , if at that point audley didnt get a shot at haye , hed get a shot at a klit or maybe at least a number 1 contender bout against a descent name , i think though harrison will lose his title challenge that should eventually come his way and finally realise he wasnt at the level he thought and call it a day , saying well i came so close .

as for hayes next opponent , if he can negotiate himself out of the way of a valuev rematch , then i agree the winner of arreola v adamek makes most sense , plus people seem to think solis should get a go at haye , but i think he should maybe fight a good challenger before offering haye out , theres also hopkins , i know im not keen on this fight but haye might see it as a good fight to build himself stateside and would earn money on it.

Oh god not Audley! No no no. Who is really going to care? I hope they can keep Valuev out the way. Maybe he can fight him again after he gets his unification fight against a Klitschko but I don't think anybody is that interested are they? Valuev should have fought Vitali. Fury isn't good enough and doesn't deserve the shot. He didn't win the fight with Mcdermott and he knows it, that's why he's out of the picture not fighting any of the big domestic names. He's still got a long way to go.

Isn't Chagaev considered the top heavy behind the Klitschko brothers and Haye? I think Ring magazine had him above Haye at number 3. Chagaev will probably beat Meehan and therefore will be Haye's mandatory, so he'll have to fight him at some point if he retains in his next bout. I think

Personally for me it would have to be the Arreola-Adamek winner. It would be entertaining. I'm really pulling for Adamek. I think Arreola is horribly overrated by American fans starved of good heavyweights. Honestly, the Americans are so greedy. They've got great fighters in other divisions (I'm thinking light welter and super middle right now) but they're still not happy. Having seen the footage of Arreola fighting as a skinny light heavy in his 20's, you have to be amazed he has got as far as he has. It annoys me that some of the heavyweights are so fat. with the ammount of training they must do and the calories they burn, what the f*ck are they eating?

Solis would be interesting, seeing as he beat Haye as an amatuer.

But really, I want to see Haye-Vitali.

Agree with absolutely every word. I would rather eat my own sick than Harrison get a world title fight off the back of beating Sprotty (no offence to Sprotty but on current form it's fecking disgusting that these two should be jousting for the title of best in Europe).

Hopefully David can get a fight with the Adamek-Arreola winner, or maybe Tony Thompson, or Chagaev or a comebacking Kevin Johnston? A few knockovers of Klit victims -- warm bodies to use as a gauge -- is what's needed I think, bragging rights if you like: "I flattened Thompson/Johnston/whomever in half the time that Klit did", that sort of thing.

Haye is beginning to generate his own little cadre of knockers around here, but FFS he's beaten better opposition than Audley ever has at heavyweight & he's only fought there four times!

It has to be a Klitschko. But if that cant happen then I would like to see him in with the winner of Arreola and Adamek or Povetkin.

The very last person - and I mean the very last person I would want to see next is Valuev, i would rather watch Ant & Dec than pay for that rematch. It was originally a big hit, but the sequel couldn't emulate 10% of the original revenue of you ask me. Like Dusk til Dawn 2.

I think either Adamek or Solis next, as other than the Klit sisters the horizon is baron.

At a push id settle for Arreola.

It's sad to say, but other than Harrison and the Klits, none of the the guys mentioned will be known outside the hardcore. Chagaev could be any one of a number of faceless russians while most people would even struggle to distinguish wlad and vitali from each other.

The "problem" Haye has is that he may feel he wants/needs to crack america, but without a viable american challenger, there will simply be no interest. All of the so-called top americans have tried (in the loosest sense) and failed against the Klits, so Haye has fewer options for a challenger worthy of a shot.

Eg, Arreola is probably the american heavyweight with the highest profile, but that match up would be tainted by accusations that Haye is simply feeding on Vitali's leftovers. The likes of Johnson, Thompson and Chambers have all been shown to be sub-standard (and probably no better opponents than Sosnowski or, indeed, Audley).

For my mind Solis or Adamek would be good next steps; alternatively lets see him risk it all against David Tua!! Guaranteed not to be a long night!

tua would be a good idea - they could market it as a power punchers fight. I can see your point all the high profile american fighters have been beaten by the klits, but i dont think that means he should look further down the pile. And before that french guy starts going on about solis having a gold medal and KOing barrett in 2, id like to point out harrison has a gold medal and could ko monty barrett who is now absolutely shot to bits with no chin whatsoever in 2 rounds as well. Infact solis v harrison is a fight they should start thinking about, they could put their medals on the line lol.

Personally i think he will fight one of the klits next, they need an exciting fight before people start turning off their tvs and sitting in the dark for 45 minutes instead of facing the prospect of watching one of their 3 hour long fights and contemplating sandpapering their eye balls.

This is why I feel that a Hopkins heavyweight title shot at Haye is more likely than some people think.
