Somehow I cannot see Gatti coming to Nottingham, mind you, if Tszyu is prepared to come to Manchester, then who knows.

One problem though, Witter doesn't have a huge fanbase over here, so what's the advantage for Gatti? Gatti can draw a crowd anywhere, so the fight would be better made in Vegas.

I know a certain young man who dose have a huge fan base in nottingham and if he was fighting for a European title on the undercard people would come out although not sure how wise a move Rudy Markussen would be at this stage. Also Witters profile has been raised somewhat in this country, perhaps Hennassy has it in mind to show a bill with both of them feachering heavaly for the American audiences.

Personaly I imagen the fight if it takes place will be in the USA but its not such a rediculouse idea when you think with the right press and if the BBC get back on board they could probbably sell out most venues.

However, is Carl's fanbase THAT big? Bigger than Gatti's anywhere in America....doubtful.

True but I guess that Hennassy is thinking in the long term. If he can pull this off then it will offer him a good relationship with a TV company possibly back with the BBC also it would massively raise the profile of both fighters and Hennassy sports.

Long term a real fight for a real title in england will do the sport's popularity no end of good, furthermore it will put a finle end to the apparent suppremacy of Sports Network.

In the end I think it will just force SN to redouble their efforts, and get more title shots for their own fighters. That's the whole idea of competition, it is better for the consumer, and it's no different for boxing fans.

I doubt very much allegedly is going to simply say 'darn it' Hennessy's doing well, shucks, not much we can do about that.'

In the end we will see the benefits all over the sport the more that other promoters prosper. The more the merrier, that's what I say. Until recently though It must be said, SN were a country mile ahead of their competitors, and still are in many respects, but with Evans/Waterman getting Clinton a title belt, and Hennessy getting the deal with Golden boy, things are beginning to turn around.

Noticeable though that Hearn's committment to boxing may be wavering, he has so many other moneymaking enterprises going, that perhaps he doesn't feel he needs the aggro of staying in the sport, especially now he is without a TV deal for boxing. Snooker, Darts and Poker are a lot less hassle I dare say.
