The Funniest KO of all time.
I remember a fight report in Boxing News from one of the small US shows about a boxer who (I believe) was called Frankie Gonzales. His record was something like 0-1 and his dad was his cornerman.
Anyway, if I remember correctly, midway through the second round his oponent just started landing combinations at will on him, so in response Gonzales vaults over the ropes and runs back to the dressing room!
Needless to say, his dad was horrified.

Take THAT!!!
Yes, but the guy getting blasted over the ropes, he actually gets back in and wins the fight. He was trying to jump on the top rope to celebrate his victory, but 10 seconds were left, so the other guy "chumped him"

mistaken
I remember the fight and the cuban is the guy who knocked the referee out,and when they replaced him,I believe he knocked him out as well, and then also hit the third ref, before Dewitt knocked him out.It was very funny though,MightyWarrior wrote:I'll take a guess and say that's Charlie Weir. The ruthless South African puncher from the 80's - he always wore those striped trunks, and the build looks about right.Manos de Oro wrote:That clip seems to be really doing the rounds on the internet. Can anyone name either of the boxers involved?
Funniest KO I ever saw was when Wille DeWitt flattened the ref, during an amateur match against a Cuban.
Wish I had the clip, Charlie Chaplin would've been proud at the slapstick way the poor ref keels over, stiff as a board

The dude is Jerry Hackney & not actually running away in fear. This was a 4 round fight on ESPN. Apparently, he was clowning around the whole fight, mugging to the crowd and what not. When he heard the 10-second warning for the last round he ran to jump up onto the corner post so that he could sit there as the round ended. Unfortunately his opponent, George Klinesmith, followed him and caught him with that big right as the bell sounded ending the round & fight.
Scores were 40-33, 40-34, 40-33 in favour of Klinesmith

But didn't you say, HeavyHitters, that the guy who got knocked out of the ring won?HeavyHitters wrote:Read above about 5 or 6 posts....
