Let`s be honest, if Audley has ANY ambitions of seriously fighting for a World title, he should be disposing of Sprott without any real problems at all.

Sprott is a long way off being a world class fighter, I think we can all agree on that. Audley should be either outpointing him with ease or stopping him. Simple as.

Have him Sprotty :DDD

I still dont see how Sprott is fighting for a European title, he has been pretty much a journeyman the last 18 months fighting up and coming fighters in there home town. Harrison should deal with him convincinlly

But who did Harrison beat to win the European? That Pole wasn't any better than Sprott and lets not forget that Sprott has beat Harrison already and convincingly so he has every right to to box him again this time for a title. Sprott wins again by KO, no matter how much you improve you cant put muscles on the chin

Good luck audley.

Brit boxing needs all the success it can get.

Personally, ive never disliked the man, hes just said some daft things and taken the wrong path.

Love to see him win then defend vs rogan. With those two defeats avenged people may take him a bit more seriously.

I think people should bare in mind, it would b the easiest thing in the world for him to have retired.

I've always been a bit of Audley fan, he should be very proud of what he achieved. I don't believe he is capable of backing up his words dspite his talent. Talent is just one small part of how fights are decided. I think he maybe scrapes through against an old sprott tonight, but Audley will never, ever be a world champion- not unless he stops the talking and starts laying it on the line in the ring- but I don't think he's got the desire to do that anymore.

Yes i agree he has all the skill, height, weight and he's a southpaw but he needs to take chances and a convincing ko of sprott tonight will work wonders for him and i hope he does it,BUT i feel he will probably try to win a sneaky points decision on the back foot and when he stinks the place out he will tell us all that he had ISSUES going into the fight and that's why his performance was so negative

he is without his trainer at 2 weeks notice. the guys mum died. bet he mentions that. but still, ok he may not win a world belt, but if he won euro and maybe added the british or commonwealth its still an acheivement.

Good read from Kevin Mitchell, even better given the fact he credits Paul Foley @ Boxrec for the quotes. :TU:

Audley had the potential to go further in his career than Sprott... but at 38 i think its too late for him.

I still expect Audley to grind out a points win.... if he losses he says he'll retire.
Now that would be a very interesting speech if it were to happen?
Humble maybe? or excuses for never reaching his potential

Lets not forget Audley captured the nations hearts in 2000(yes,he did),front page of The Sun,the lot.He seems his own worst enemy though now.We could have all coped with him if he just had the slightest bit of humility.I actually still like the guy, comedy value and all that.Oh,and i think he will beat Sprott as well,Sprott will never land another punch like that as long as he lives

You gotta love Audley :)

he is one of the most charismatic athletes in Britian and has the gift for the gab.

His Sky sports interview the other day was legendary

Harrison - Haye a 'false prophet'

http://www.skysports.com/video/inline/0 ... 73,00.html

I would love to see Haye vs Audley later this year or next year, would be one of the biggest domestic fights ever.

Sosnowski was alot more deserving than Sprott of his EBU opportunity. Pianetta has got some good names on his resume, and Sosnowski drew with him in Painetta's back yard. Also had the Danny Williams win.

Would Sprott beat John McDermmott at his stage of his career?

Obviously Audley can be proud of winning Olympic Gold and in the grand scheme of things be pleased with what he has done in life, he's achieved a damn sight more than most of us. But you cannot judge someone on that basis, you have to look at what talents and chances they had and whether they did as well as they should have done. In that regard he has been a failure at the pro ranks by quite some way. He won Olympic Gold and did so at a time when the BBC wanted to get back involved in boxing and had a perfect launch pad for his career with a fan base and financial backing that most talented young boxers can only dream of.

He was blessed with height and reach, fast hands, decent power and more importantly genuine boxing ability. His chin is poor, but that would simply have meant he could never reach the top of the pro game, but he could have become a popular fighter instead of one that was derided and disliked by many. He is lethargic and negative against opponents who have a 10th of is talent. He has fought with purpose and drive perhaps 3 times in his pro career. Once was in the second Williams fight and once was against Sprott and that unfortunately resulted in him being KO'd when maybe a win would have kickstarted a respectable and entertaining pro career that at least saw him get some intruiguing opportunities.

But he has chosen to talk of himself as some sort of star who has stumbled off the right path or is coming back from past glories to prove himself, when the reality is he has done very little as a pro other than bore paying crowds with passive performances and a lack of ambition in the ring. To start running his gums about Haye and talking about a shot at Wlad or Vitali is beyond pathetic, it begins to sound like the ramblings of a man suffering from genuine delusions.

In one way I would like him to win in style tonight and go on a little run purely as it might be interesting. But on the other hand Sprott has always given his best in the ring, has been unlucky in several fights and has never talked crap about his standing in the boxing world and so I would be quite pleased for him to win well too.

Sprott is worth a small punt at 2/1, a KO win already against Audley and to be fair Harrison was getting outboxed against a cruiser weight in the Prizefighter final up until he tagged the Irish lad.

I'd disagee on the line "His chin is poor, but that would simply have meant he could never reach the top of the pro game" - Look at Wladamir, his chin is awful yet he fights to his strengths.

i hope the honest pro, Sprott, wins tonight. Audley didnt look ata ll assured against coleman barret until barret made a mistake which Audley pounced on (well done for that). Sprotty will come to win, and may have too much for big aud.

i hope audley gets knocked unconscious, michael sprott is a good humble affable man, never bigheaded, id like to see him put audley into retirement. sprott deserves the european title after the times he has been 'jobbed' on the road against decent opposition.
