Froch and Kessler promise fireworks

Post by dondada »

Comprehensive round up of last night's Showtime teleconference.

Sounds like this is going to be massive in Denmark with 90%+ of the crowd for the home man. Seems like not many Brits will make it over there - hope there is a decent TV take up as it's a huge match.

I was going to the fight it was in Copenhagen, but Herning is such a pain to get to I cannot be bothered.

There must be hundreds if not thousands in the same boat as me and it is a real shame. Copenhagen is a quality city, whilst Herning (no disrespect) is not on the same level when it comes to offering fans a "Total weekend away"

Poor old Frochy will be in the cauldron one again.

This is exactly my position fraser. It was too much of a logistical problem to get there and back - I would definitely have gone had it been Copenhagen.

I'm assuming Herning has paid a huge site fee.

To be fair,"poor old Frochy" has had it the other way round enough times in Nottingham. He comes across as someone who wont be too concerned wherever the fight is.A ring's a ring,as they say

The confidence is hanging out of Froch. On the call last night, Froch played devils advocate with the Danes by asking, why, if the fight is so big in Denmark, it couldnt be moved to a 50,000 seater venue in Copenhagen? Technical issues was the answer he was given. At the end of the day, it isnt Hennessey's fault or Froch's fault that this fight is in Herning, both would have it in Copenhagen if they got their way. It will be huge in Denmark - that's for sure.

Lets face it Froch has been extremely luck in his last 2 or 3 fight so will be up against it,however i feel that Kessler is now slightly damaged goods and although he will push Froch all the way i think when it comes down to it Froch will want it more and do whatever it takes to hold onto his belt, just a shame it's not a unification fight, but still a good one

Yea Froch can be outboxed at the higher level as his past 2 fights have shown
hopefully this ones does Produce Fireworks , the Froch vs Pascal fight will never be topped though that was a classic

Will froch shut up about Joe after this if Kesssler Beats him up ?

I think the styles of these two fights will gel. Kessler has the classic upright "European" style of boxing. He tends to stick to the basics but he does this very well. But due to Kessler's more "orthodox" style I could see Froch having more success with his counters. Would not shock me at all to see Froch pull out a late stoppage. At the same time if Kessler is on form his timing is superb. Some of the right hands he clocked Calzaghe with shook him right to his boots. I've gone back and forth in my mind over this fight. 12 months ago I was sure Kessler would destroy Froch. Now I'm leaning toward Froch.......I just don't know........I just know it should be a great fight! Might actually order this!

It's all gonna depend on how Kessler turns up for this one. He let his career dwindle away after the Calzaghe fight to the point where he got abused by Ward. Inactivity and lack of quality opposition have done him no favours and it remains to be seen what's left of him. I still feel like Kessler can go straight down the middle and really hurt Froch, but Froch is tough and maybe at this stage will want it that bit more. I expect a fun fight eitehr way though.

I can see Froch getting knocked out in this one.I think Abraham has a good chance of knocking him out too.Taylor flattened him in the 3rd round, and I think Kessler and Abraham are bigger punchers.I also think Ward will run rings around him.

Win lose or draw, Pacal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham.

I can't think of a tougher series of fights that a British fighter has taken on.

not much faith in froch!

i'm not saying he'll win super 6. but i think he will do much better than you predict.

the prize of running rings around froch could have been seen in the dirrell fight. lots of running and not much else from the running man. running rings is a risk in itself, i.e. not enough actual fighting to get the win.

I think Froch is an extremely tough and brave man, but can be outboxed. Dirrel gave him all kinds of problems and Taylor was miles ahead, and this was a shop warn, fragile Taylor.I also think that you don't want to take heaps of leather from Kessler or Abraham, as they can both punch and are accurate. I hope I am wrong, but I am nervous about his chances, that's all.Mind you, he doesnt seem to be nervous at all.

i think something will happen to ward, as has happened to everyone else in the super 6, to make ppl have serious doubts.

if he can take on all comers and look as good as he was vs kessler, then fine, and very good for the super middleweight division. but i feel ward's one big weakness - his chin - may get shown up a bit, at some point.

it seems the best thing about the tourney so far is that, in matching ppl tough, the weaknesses that usually get hidden in the matchmaking are there for all to see.

reckon froch has some much better nights coming up. i felt he looked in great shape for the dirrell fight, and that he would have done well had the runner-actor from detroit been a bit more assertive.
