Re: Is darren barker being shown live on sky?
I don't think I've ever read anyone saying that Darren Barker is the new Sugar Ray or the second coming. Infact he hardly ever gets a mention.slapbangwhallop wrote:"If your boy Andy Lee wants to fight, he should come right out and call him out - after all it's a fight that everyone wants to see.
Infact if you know his number, send it to me and I will ask him straight out and publish it here on boxrec news."
Lee has come out and said A. he was never offered the fight B. He wants the fight C. He is happy to step in for either D. He is happy to fight the winner and E. that Barker is a joke for fighting Belgacham for the EBU title when Lee completely outclassed him his his last fight.
Myself and Barry dont agree on a lot but I understand his point here. Barker has looked good on ITV4 but the level of opponent is poor, some British posters on here have criticised Lee and Duddy as being hype jobs whilst at the same time performance a colonic inspection of Barker.
Barker can't help it if people withdraw or don't want to fight him. Macklin has made it plainly obvious he dont want to fight Barker and is wanting to make some dollars stateside away from Europe, whilst Lee & Duddy seem to have been completely withdrawn from the British & Irish scene, more content with fighting in the States.
Lets be really honest here about the term 'hype jobs' , Lee and Duddy have had massive hype and have been smashed and knocked out by journeymen have they not ?
Lee was described as the best middleweight in the world right now by Manny Steward -then he was knocked out by a slugger.
Duddy was being lined up for a shot at Kelly Pavlik before getting his face caved in in and then he later completely lost on points against a completely unheralded fighter.
Sure Duddy & Lee may well have beaten everyone Barker has, nobody is disputing that - but Barker has had little in the way of opportunities but has still managed to get the British, Commonwealth and now European titles whilst remaining unbeaten.
Re: Is darren barker being shown live on sky?
there are some douches on here. yes lee fought the french guy last time out but other than that he has nothing to do with this fight.
somebody said that they are hoping this fight will be on ITV4. OMG WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? itv dont do boxing anymore and i know barker v butler was on itv but this is live and exclusive on sky.

GOmez, yer talkin out yer arse.
A. "Barker can't help it if people withdraw or don't want to fight him." - well Lee hasnt witdrawn on him and Lee said he said that he wanted this fight with Barker!
B. "Lee & Duddy seem to have been completely withdrawn from the British & Irish scene, more content with fighting in the States." - remind me where Lee's last 8 fights have been, and Duddy has never really been on the British or Irish scene to withdraw from it.
C. "Macklin has made it plainly obvious he dont want to fight Barker and is wanting to make some dollars stateside away from Europe" - more bollocks, Barker is following in Macklins footsteps, picking off guys Matthew has already been through (doin the same thing with Lee!!) Macklin has gone on and put the chinny mockney ducker firmly in his shadow.
D. "Lee and Duddy have had massive hype and have been smashed and knocked out by journeymen have they not ?" - eh no! Firstly lets deal with the hype - Duddy, who hyped him, what did they say? Lee, apart from Manny Steward (his then trainer and manager - wow, his own team hyping him! shock!) who was hyping him and what did they say. As for both of them getting knocked out - neither of them have ever even been on their arses in their pro career but I can tell you about a ducking chinny hyped monkey that has!!!
E. "Lee was described as the best middleweight in the world right now by Manny Steward -then he was knocked out by a slugger." - Manny put far too much pressure on Lee too early but he was never knocked out.
And to think that I actually had you down as someone that used to know what they were talking about - how wrong was I!

I think there are a few Brits on here that need to have a look in the mirror.
In fact I find when dealing with blatant bullshiit like above the best way to deal with it is to break it down and deal with the FACTS - as I done above with GOMez borderline retarded post above. :)

I actually used to like Barker, seems like a decent guy but this fight and the bull and the fact that not one of the Brits on here seems to question his shakey record or dodgy opponent have really put me off him.Barry big balz wrote:Barker needs to fight lee next not proksa who also is behind lee in the rankings , if only to shut those crazy bias paddies up!rob12344 wrote:Your bias is shocking mate

Imagine if Barker had just wiped the floor with Belgacham and then Lee faced him in his next fight for the European title when Barker was screaming out for a shot - you guys wouldnt shut up about it and Boxing News would have a two page spread - remind me whos biased again!!

Re: Is darren barker being shown live on sky?
Im looking forward to the fight tomorrow i really am. Im dying to see if barker can break through belghechams class defence with clean shots on the chin were lee struggled to connect and if barker has the power to hurt belghecham over the 12 rounds.
Mahir oral , pirog , and gevor are all good opponents for the EBU strap but belghecham ahead of lee!?
Stinks of corruption and cherry picking in the barker management for me...........![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Re: Is darren barker being shown live on sky?
OK now imagine if Barker had terrible trouble with Belgecham in the last round and was running away and almost knocked down in the closing seconds, leaving everybody watching in no doubt that if the fight was a 12 rounder rather than a 10 rounder, Belgecham would have knocked him out. Then Lee fought him.slapbangwhallop wrote:

Andy has had 21 fights, 13 of which have been in America, 2 of which have been in Germany and just 6 have been in Ireland.
His last fight was Ireland, the one before that was Germany and the one before that was in America (so i'm not sure why you ask about his last 8 fights, he's only ever fought in Ireland 6 times - now who's ignorant ?)
With regards Andy saying he hasn't backed out a fight - well he wasn't 'available' and he can tell everyone how he wants it, but the Gevor was next on the list, but couldn't fight for promotional dispute reasons, then it was the spaniard Ruben and he couldnt make it and then the next available guy on the list was the Frenchie. Everyone else stated 'unavailable' so you read into that what you want.
Andy's record is fact and the EBU selection process is set in stone, so i'm not sure how you can dispute it.

I am not sure if you are a complete retard or just a part time one but correct me if I am wrong but you said -
"whilst Lee & Duddy seem to have been completely withdrawn from the British & Irish scene, more content with fighting in the States." - by this you mean that Lee was on the B&I scene but has now withdrawn - like I said that is complete, total and utter bullshiit! FIVE of his last EIGHT fights were in Ireland - thats far more than in his earlier career - so how is that "withdrawing from the scene?? - thats proves you are the ignorant one despite your shiite attempt at backtracking!
Nice of you to avoid the four other points I made as well! You should be put in the dunces corner to be honest.
As for his availablity - read his own words - he said himself, he wasnt offered the fight, he wants the fight, he would replace either and would happily fight the winner!
Enjoy picking over the bones of another fighter (as usual!)

Correct - if he has the balls to fight someone decent then fair enough - but a title challenge against someone not even in the top 10 and coming off a loss sounds a little hollow to be!Barry big balz wrote:Doesnt have to be lee next, gevor , mahir oral, pirog are all ahead of lee so i couldnt say poop if barker fought those guys but if it proksa who by the way is behind lee in rankings then yes barker is cherry picking his opponents....
Barren Ducker really needs to step his game up.
Re: Is darren barker being shown live on sky?
Definatly an improvement if Sky show two live fights.
Lomax V Ryan might be a decent undercard bout- looks an even match up, but nothing else really of note.
So yeah, 2 live fights is good I'd say.
