clinton woods and cash question....
how much did he earn against roy jones and also glencoffe 1 & 2? any ideas?
He must have a fair bit of money in the bank, i just hope he can have a few easy defences then have a big fight or pay day.
Anyway i know what im going to say is nothing to do with the thread but i was talking to someone the other day and they were saying that even Hopkins may be a challenger to Woods
(personally i can't see that happening - think i was fed some bull shit), mind you it could be a stepping stone fight for B-Hop, beats Woods then he has fights with Tarver & Johnson or Jones if he comes back (you never know - could be some truth in it)

If you look at the IBF top 15 it doesnt look like Woods will get a tough mandatory but it really depends on where Johnson & Tarver is placed and due to politics I doubt they will be in the top 5.
1. Rico Hoye
2. Clinton Woods
3. Montell Griffin
4. Thomas Ulrich
5. Julio Gonzalez
6. Tomasz Adamek

10. Sylvio Branco

I would be staggered if Hopkins was interested in this fight. He could make a fight with Tarver of Johnson tommorow, he doesn't need the IBF belt, either man would snap his hand off at the wrist...Foggy wrote:He must have a fair bit of money in the bank, i just hope he can have a few easy defences then have a big fight or pay day.

In other light heavyweight news (By Per Aake Persson):
Look for WBA lightheavy champ Fabrice Tiozzo to defend against German Thomas Ulrich, the current EBU titleholder, in the near future. When and where is not clear but AMI, Michel Acaries, and Universum, Klaus Peter Kohl, have an agreement that also includes a defence by WBO king Zsolt Erdei v Medhi Sahnoune. The winner of Tiozzo v Ulrich and Erdei v Sahnoune will then meet in a big WBA-WBO unification. Ulrich takes on Brit Matthew Barney March 26 in a defence of the EBU title while Sahnoune face Brazilian Roberto Coelho on Monday (March 14).

he was mandatory though wasnt he?? so presumably was entitled to 40% of the purse bidFlawedGenius wrote:I'd be shocked if his purse was a million dollars. I'd always presumed he got so many chances because he was prepared to take less than some of the other challengers out there.knockout wrote:the only article i could find suggested a $1m purse for woods against Jones

I think they are talking about the Roy Jones fight, not the Hoye fight. In WBC fights the champion gets 75%.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Mandatory for a vacant title, not sure how the purse split works, surely it's 50-50 though? I don't think it could have been a huge money fight though, smallish venue, and BBC aren't going to stump up a fortune.
