Calls for Tunney to be given title shot

Post by jBacca »

More and more noise is being made, about a possible world light-heavyweight title shot for Gene Tunney.

Tunney has been in scintillating form, winning 15 of his last 18 and only losing 2 to cuts. Not only that, in his last 5 fights he's stopped top contenders Roy Jones Jnr, Joe Calzaghe and Dariuz Michalczewski, whilst scoring unanimous points decisions over Carl Froch and top 10 ranked Jimmy Bivens.

No one imagined Tunney reaching such heights; earlier in the season he was dismissed by managers worldwide, and even his own stable.

Now though, Tunney is in red hot form and on the rise.

Tunney has a big, big fight against Tommy Gibbons up next, one that he isn't overlooking. Gibbons will take him to the trenches. If Tunney does pull off the remarkable, then surely its undeniable that on recent form, no one is more deserving than a title shot.

The Crease Challenge Corporation would like to to throw its full weight behind this proposal...

We would like to add that there have been fighters given Undisputed title shots in the past and were not a sdeserving as Tunney. :shame:

Lastly, it would be the greatest shame of this season's brs if Tunney is not granted a title-shot.

Other great shames include - Calzaghe vs Rosenbloom III
and Froch vs Rosenbloom (Carl has called him out 3 times in the past)

Please understand, that Rosenbloom would have to flush every title he has earned in order to sign on to cruelly and one sidedly beat your fighter down to mere remnants of his former skeletal structure. Best leave such notions to those who have achieved "top ten" status.

Boxbuzz, manager of World Light-Heavyweight Champion, Maxie Rossenbloom, has stated that his next defence will be against a top 10 contender who has come off a win against a top 10 opponent.

Who are the contenders?

Gene Tunney - is firmly within the top 10 and has beaten three top 10 contenders in his last five fights.

Joe Calzaghe - great fighter, great manager, but many believe he's had his day in the sun. Has recently been stopped by Tunney.

Roy Jones Junior - same as above. Great win against the HOF Tiger Jack Fox, but has also just been stopped by Tunney.

The most noble thing to do would be to accept Gene Tunney's challenge. :TU:

Moore has expressed that he has no interest in fighting Tunney in a "title eliminator"... :shame:
(and whoever should win, Fox will be the no 1 challenger probs)

And Rosenbloom won't fight Foster again... The fights too close to call.

Sounds to me like Boxbuzz is cowering...
