goldenboy - hiding khan again
goldenboy - hiding khan again
first it was warren now its goldenboy
why oh why wont they let khan fight a guy with a decent punch??? , how much do they not want maidana to fight khan????
first they serve maidana with a tough fight with cayo now they are making him fight the best 140lber in bradley
why are they so desparate for him NOT to fight khan???
well here is the reason.....
khan avoided all the domestic big tests and was manufactured to a WBA title , noe hes with HBO and hes fighting guys in malignaggi who have no punch at all
wonder why??? , well the prescott fight told you all you need to know about khan , face and puncher at modest level and its over
fight maidana and its over - all that money goldenboy and HBO have spent is up the sh..iter
khan is a fraud , he has ducked the best british fighters and is now ducking the best world fighters
a disgrace

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
Good point on Prescott - fully agree...
I'd go with manufacturing of his WBA title too under W arren.
Do think that your a little harsh though on Golden Boy, this is a really good introductory fight for Khan on U.S soil & with it being in Malignaggi's home town - I'd say your off the mark there.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
look mate is is a much easier fight for khan , now remember khan and his team have been shouting thier mouths off about being the best and fighting the best.
warren , khan , khans team , hbo , goldenboy know 1 thing
KHAN AINT GOT A CHIN , INFACT HIS CHIN IS THAT BAD THAT HE HAS TO BE MATCHED WITH GUYS WITH VERY LOW KO RATIOS.
KHAN IS A FRAUD
thats what pi..sses me off about boxing , guys are brought along fighting crap then they are manuovered away from any decent challenge
ps: khans chin is that bad that even malignaggi can knock him out

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
explain sgt??
im sorry but i like a guy that wants to be tested vs the best , not a guy that ducks other fighters or sits on a title
khan is a fraud , when he fights maidana , alexander or bradley
its over
total hype job
willie limond nearly kayoed him and he couldnt punch his way out of a paper bag

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
khan - mallinagi is a decent first fight for khan. good match making
Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
fighters should fight the best
khan never did in the uk and he wont do it at world level
a very limited prescott made him last 30 secs
matchmaking??? no ripping the fans off with bum fights is not the way for him to get respect
maidana was due the fight , khan and his team ducked him , just the same as thaxton , mitchell and murray
khan wants nothing to do with good fighters , he hadpicks opponents with a 20% or less ko ratio

Boxer,
You still don't get it, do you ?
In the holy righteous world of boxing that you live in, yes, the best should take on the best.
Now go back through the annals of time and tell me when that's ever happened.
Boxing is a business as much as a sport.
In any business in life where there exists "middle men" - in this case Promoters - then you will never get the best against the best.
That's because with any middle man the first equation to settle is risk against reward.
Goldenboy stick a wedge investment in Khan.
MMMM - what we got boys ?
Well we could stick him in with Maidana - to placate and satisfy the purists, or we could stick im in with Malinaggi - a bigger name and certainly a lower risk.
What the f**k would you do, Boxerbob ?
In purist terms you're probably right about Khan and his fragility.
You will find out the answer to that when it is the correct BUSINESS decision to step him up.
I am not enthused about Khan one way or the other but I do think he needs cutting some slack.
Two fights in at LWW and maybe just maybe the Prescott fight was just one of those nights when he got caught cold.

I always say something similar when all the ducking and hiding accusations are thrown around, to no avail though :geek2:

Excellent points and these arguments highlight the difference between the casual fans who will willingly part with their PPV pennies after being sucked into the marketing and hype around a fighter/ fight and the hardcore/ puriest fans who probably number in the hundreds/ low thousands in the UK who really know their onions about the game.twenty six wrote:Boxer,

Factor into this the 'Boxing is a sport/ Boxing is a business' dichotomy coupled with the weak global and fractured governance of boxing and we can begin to unpick the contadictions of boxing.
However, watching Barker's amazing scrap last night and Harrison's last ditch get out of jail hook reminds me how and why I love the game so much and when you watch such a battle it really cuts through all the bull sh*t.

Jim,
That's the pure essence of it.
No one truly knows what might happen during 36 minutes of boxing.
Having said that, the sport of boxing has restricted its market to such an extent in the UK, that it is so so easy for the business people to pull the wool, because the knowledgeable fans are in the minority.
You can either become bitter and twisted with it, or learn to live with it.

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
no doubt khan, with his serious chin problems, is being kept away from maidana, who has a serious punch.
but the fact that bradley is fighting him isn't part of some big conspiracy. bradley and alexander will have been desperate to get hold of someone like maidana, an exciting fighter whom they can get a good TV date against. and a limited enough fighter who can maybe help them to show off their skills.

Surely Bradley is a bigger fight for Maidana than Khan, so its more lucrative for Maidana and isnt it for the WBO world light welter weight title?
I agree they dont want khan fighting maidana yet he's effectively a much better version of prescott. I think Golden Boy want the Khan v Bradley fight or Khan v Maidana if he holds a belt (which i cant see happening not against bradley) - either way they're looking for a big money unification fight.
GBP are running a business it doesnt suprise me that they're looking to build fighters up and then sell big fights, its frustrating for us boxing fans but in the long term its better for boxing - that is as long as the fights happen and in a reasonable space of time.

However, the way forward for me is stronger governance. Could you imagine a world where Man Utd played conference teams then worked through the divisions before playing Chelsea?
There is way too much emphasis on protecting inflated and meaningless unbeaten records.
I think prizefighter and the super six series is showing the way forward.
This concept could be copied/ influence matchmaking at all levels of the game.
I prefer a series of bouts like a league over the prizefighter 'all on one night' type affair.
I'd love to see a series for the north/ south UK, contested over several months, ending in a title fight for the two regional winners. That would be a moneyspinner and a legitimate sporting event. You could even have a series of weight divisions on the same show.
Still, I'm a realist and understand the barriers to such a pipe dream!

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
khan probably has been protected to a certain extent but hes far from a fraud,he beat a legitimate world class operator and full light welter in andreas kotelnik who BEAT this unbeatable, unstoppable force in marcos maidana.Khan also came from a potential career ending KO to breidis prescott and now hes fighting top contender malinaggi who regardless of his power is a quality operator in madison square garden and being showcased to the american public. Is that the actions of a fraud?

Anyone who totally outboxes Kotelnik over 12 rounds is not a fraud, end of discussion. Anyone who cannot admit or accept this has obviously got an issue with Khan as a person.
He might not be the greatest thing out there, but he aint a fraud and let`s not forget, he is still a young kid.

I hope Khan is legit, i hope he backs up the press & money he's had to date, but I've got this nagging feeling that as soon as he faces anyone with world class power...forcefraser wrote:Anyone who totally outboxes Kotelnik over 12 rounds is not a fraud, end of discussion. It makes it interesting if nothing else. Let's hope the roadwork and leg work is paying off under Roach.
All that aside I hope he takes care of Maidana, that's starting to be a bit of an albatross now.
Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
Like caffrey said, khan beat the man who beat the man, khan is an elite boxer and if kotelnik can avoid the big punches i am sure new and improved Khan would easily and outbox him aswell.
Khan wants to be the best and is only fighting who the promotors put in front of him. I am certain Khan will fight to unify the division within 12 months be top 10 p4p and ready to step into Pac's and PBF shoes when they retire.
Yes Khan got KO'd, maybe he got a bit complacent as he hadnt really been tested and wasnt expecting 90% ko ratio prescott to bang that hard. Pac has been KO'd twice within 4 rounds and never avenged them and look at him now!

Amir and his promoters make it very hard to be a Khan fan IMO. Refused to fight Thaxton and Murray, then picked pigeon punching Paulie rather than face his mandatory.
Amir's a great boxer, but he likes to have the stats weighing heavily in his favour![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

Khan is definitely not a fraud as some have put - he has outstanding offensive skills - his speed of punch is bloody fantastic and his range of shots are too.
Khan deserves the place where he is as a world champion.
The compliments stop there - I truly cannot stand the bloke.
In all the years I have been on these forums - there hasnt been another boxer that I dislike more.

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
I still can't understand why people still say Frank protected him?? He fought and beat Graham Earl when people were questioning him?? He get's flattened by Prescott and Frank moves him up a weight and puts him in with Kotelnick who IS world class and no matter what you say the guy can punch, He stopped Rees and gave Witter everything he could handle and let's not forget Witter predicted that Amir would get stopped by Kotelnick so to say Frank protected Amir is a bit unfair??b Let's not forget also that Frank made a fight with Maidana and with Timothy Bradley too!! Everyone knows Bradley is the best fighter in the division, Frank made that fight and Bradley was coming to the UK!! All of this shows me that non of it was down to FW, He only wanted good fights for Amir??
You have to place the blame solely on the people around Amir and Amir himself
He keeps saying I only want the big fights yet he left FW who had arranged big fights for him and for top money too!! To fight in the states in someone else's backyard!! His fans won't travel to New York for him I'll guarentee that!! If he believe's he has a following like Hatton then both he and GBP are gonna be in for a massive shock! Malignaggi can't fill MSG that's why he was boxing in Texas!! If he could fill MSG he'd be a promoters dream, He can't fill it!! I would love to know why Amir would rather fight in front of a half full arena with non of the fans being his instead of fighting in the MEN against Bradley or Maidana with thousands of fans cheering him on?? People make out like the states is better than here?? It's not!! Even David Haye just stated he'd rather fight at home instead of the states!! You don't get the numbers over there!!
The gate ain't as big. You can't have PPV as British viewers ain't staying up till 4am unless it's an elite fighter against another elite fighter ALA Mayweather V Hatton... Once again after pointing all this out I'd love to know why Amir has jumped ship to the states???

Re: goldenboy - hiding khan again
I know amir apologised for his statement regarding himself being mistreated because of his race, but deep down I think he believes he should be as popular as hatton, haye and calzaghe,i think this eats him up and even though warren is the leading promoter he cant force people to like a fighter. It will be really interesting to see who he fights after malinaggi if he wins as widely expected. If kahn and his team drop down a level after malinaggi than they will have questions to answer.
