Reading Jamie's statement put a lump in my throat. I've no doubt at all that he's gutted to pack it in, but after seeking an independent opinion on the changes in his bran scan results, Moore knew it was time to let go & move on. If only other fighters had the same intelligence instead of living in denial!

Moorsey was/is a massive credit to the sport & I'm pleased he will continue to be involved in the sport. Interesting to hear he wishes he had the "Privilege" of knowing Kerry Kayes alot sooner in his career. I think Kerry has helped him a great deal.

The statement is very honest, straight up & gets the point from the off. I wish you all the best, Jamie, & its nice to hear you have inspiration around you in a wife & two children.

All the very best indeed! Stay in shape. :box:

An underrated Warrior who had potential to go even further.

Only saw him live once and that was against fellow warrior David Walker.

Fights with Jones, Rhodes and Macklin are the ones that stick out.

All the best Jamie. A true boxing man

Great way to phrase it mate :TU:
If Jamie can take any consolation from never having strapped a version of the world title around his waist, it should be from the fact that he holds this title and it can never be taken away from him.

Having watched Jamie from been a starry eyed 14 year old at London Road labour club in Preston right up covering his thrilling fight with Ryan Rhodes for Boxrec- I'm really sad to think that they'll be no more Jamie Moore fights to add to my collection. That said I know Jamie fairly well in a boxing sense and I have a sneaky suspision that boxing may have just lost a great fighter but gained a promising new trainer. Certainly those VIP lads will greatly benefit his experiences- plus his young lad was putting the punches together backstage at the last VIP show at the reebok.

Cracking lad you are Jamie and best of luck to you whatever you do. Easily my favourite fighter of the last 15 years 'domestically' :witzend: and for such a while it seemed Jamie might have carried his class over into world title contention. But some things aren't meant to be. Who knows maybe had you have won that world title you may have lost that common touch that makes you so endearing to fans and those in the game. That would have been a great shame and credit to you for never playing on been 'one of the lads' like Sky were so keen to do with Hatton.

My first ever meeting with Jamie was pretty funny.

He was fighting in the ABA's against my pal Alan Campbell. Alan was 10-0 (10KO's), murderous puncher and had steam rolled everyone he had come across. I think I was fighting on the bill too (i won ;;-) ).

Anyway we're in the toilets at preston guild hall having a team piss. And I'm chatting to allan- usual retarded kid speak... 'Yeah Alan your well going to do him! He looks scared..., he's never fought anyone as good as you' anyway just then the toilet flushes... out of the cubicle walks a young Jamie Moore..

'Alright lads' he says, cool as a cucumber. I shit myself.

Me and alan just froze there. Felt a right twat.

Anyway 20 mins later Alan climbs into the ring. 60 seconds after that he climbs back out, Moore the victor. Think Jamie give us a wink after the fight- from then on I was a massive fan and always knew he would go on to be a top class fighter.

32-5 (23 Ko's) former British, Commonwealth and European light middle champion. Former Irish Champion. Some career that Jamie, thanks so much for the memories.

Best of luck for the future Jamie, wherever life takes you.

Can only echo the statements of everyone else. You might not have been given some of the opportunities that other Brits have done in recent years, but those British title wars against Jones, Macklin and Rhodes will live in the memory for a long time. Far longer than any number of duff WBO 'world title' fights, anyway. Respect. :TU:

Superb post from Jeff Thomas above. Lovely statement from Jamie Moore too, sums up the reasons for retiring superbly. So much to live for!

Best of luck to Jamie Moore in the future, as many have already said my favourite domestic fighter of recent times. Well done, an unbelivable warrior.

All the very very best from Team Rhodes mate.
Let's all get together at the end of the season and have a chill and a beer together whilst picking up the award for domestic fight of the year !
That'll be a record - three such awards won by one of the best.

They need to get him on the Skysports panel.... I'm sick of Jim Watt, Johnny Nelson needs someone intersting to chat to and even Piper and McCrory look like they'd rather be at home. Get Jamie in.

Jamie Moore... unbelievable fighter. Worth his weight in gold for pure entertainment.

It was either kill or be killed with him, no messing about.

He looked a beast against Michele Piccirillo just 12 months ago.... i'm pretty gutted tbh.

I'd second that. He always comes across well on the screen, speaks very well and most importantly is as honest as they come.
