Freddie Steele
Re: Freddie Steele
Actually, Steele had his first pro bout at age 13 (Nov. 10, 1926), and turned 14 on Dec. 18, 1926.

Love the guy but I've uncovered evidence the Overlin KO was "Biz"
As I've said in the past please don't shoot the messenger.

Re: Freddie Steele
I've read accounts of the fight. What was wrong with it. As I understand it, the bout was pretty close going into the 4th, but then Steele finished him almost immediately as the round began. He took 4 consecutive lefts to chin went down and failed to beat the count.
Re: Freddie Steele
It was referred to as biz by Harry B. Smith a highly esteemed boxing scribe of the San Fran Chronicle. The title was in the hands of gangsters at the time. In later interviews Ken got very hyper on this sportswriter when questioned about events.
I’m not saying this would pass muster in a congressional hearing but take note.
