Certainly is mate, any boxer from that BBC era last decade is a favourite of mine as I was so desperate for all of them to do well so the station would carry on screening their fights.

Carl Froch for me has to be the most under-rated top class boxer we have in this country - he continually gets slagged for his defence yet he is the WBC Super Middleweight Champion Of The World - prior to achieving that he had a proper journey by being matched relatively tough throughout his career.
If Froch beats Kessler which I think is a very tough fight indeed he will then sit at the very top of the P4P rankings for UK boxers - we as fans always have a pop about boxers taking on the very best in their division - Froch is doing that.
Finally - I think it is truly disgusting that Sky TV - or ITV have not picked up on Froch's fight with Kessler - whatever the result it is going to be a top class fight which will have us lot buzzing.

Come on Spud.Everyone on here has taken their hats off to Carl's willingness to box anyone, its beyond doubt. The only thing some posters(me included)have got annoyed about is his personality, and usig other people's name to get publicity. If he wins the Super Six,i will start my own thread hailing him as the best boxer of the last 20 years.Dont know him being matched tough, though.Apart from the Russian, nobody stands out.Reid was long gone when they met and Robin even admitted he was cashing out.And dont start about Magee,i know he has had an indian summer, but, when you are "the Cobra",you have got to be beating guys like that,Reid dropped him a few times in BelfastSpud wrote:Carl Froch for me has to be the most under-rated top class boxer we have in this country - he continually gets slagged for his defence yet he is the WBC Super Middleweight Champion Of The World - prior to achieving that he had a proper journey by being matched relatively tough throughout his career.

Re: WBC CHAMP FROCH ON TRANS WORLD SPORT TONIGHT
As someone else has already pointed out, Froch deserves much more publicity then he gets and it's a joke that a mainstream British TV channell won't pick up his fights, so I don't blame him for doing what he can to get noticed. It must be hard to watch fighters like Khan and Haye become household names after he has become a recognised world champ and been in some great fights against top opposition.mickey1975 wrote: The only thing some posters(me included)have got annoyed about is his personality, and usig other people's name to get publicity.
Re: WBC CHAMP FROCH ON TRANS WORLD SPORT TONIGHT
Nottingham’s Carl Froch stretches his long arms from Sherwood all the way to Herning in Denmark when he makes a grab at great Dane Mikkel Kessler on Saturday week, April 24.
Froch, big, strong, unbeaten and the defending WBC super-middleweight champion, finds himself in one of those ‘everything to lose’ situations in a place even Kessler’s fans could get lost in, but our man has the tools – and the chin – to find himself in the right place at the right time, given that Kessler comes off a long, punishing defeat at the hands of America’s Andre Ward in November. The home man could be considered ready for the taking.
Kessler was considered the best super-middleweight in the world a few years ago, with fine wins over fighters of the calibre of Markus Beyer and Tony Mundine Junior, but then Joe Calzaghe proved he was best with a solid 12-round decision in Wales in 2007, and Kessler’s star has faded since, although Calzaghe and Ward remain the only men to beat him.
Kessler gave it a good go against the now-retired Calzaghe but the later championship rounds separated them and he never troubled the slick, sharp-hitting Ward at all and was halted in the 11th due to bad cuts over in the States. By contrast Froch knocked the ambition out of America’s Jermain Taylor in his own Stateside experience last year, wearing down and stopping Taylor in the dying seconds of their 12-rounder, comfortably ahead on points. It was a typical Froch win which proved his mettle away from home, which separates him from Kessler.
Don’t get me wrong. The multi-tattooed Kessler is tough, aggressive, heavy handed and, like Froch, solid around the whiskers but he lacks great speed and mobility. Froch is hardly Cassius Clay but he jabs and whips in the counters quite well since winning the WBC title with a thrilling decision over gifted Canadian Jean Pascal in 2008 - now the WBC light-heavyweight champion – and we know he can rough it effectively. He looks more rounded as a fighter these days; he looks to be approaching his peak.
The slow-starting Froch has the freshness, strength and desire to pull ahead from the middle rounds and secure a tough, exciting, potentially gut-wrenching decision.

Where is Froch preparing in Sheffield -at the Ingle Gym?
I can't wait for this fight, although am very nervous for both fighters.Being half danish, I have followed Kesslers career since the amatuers and think he is a lovely bloke.I have also followed Carls career since his amatuer days, and again, seems like a decent chap.Let the best man win.
I think it is scandelous that a British TV channel is not showing it, and I hope this situation changes before the fight.

Primetime isn`t a TV channel. It`s a joke, or at least it was when it tried to sign on for the Direll fight.

Well, natch but it isn't. You said "It is scandalous a british TV channel is not showing it", when Primetime are. If you want to buy the fight, the option is there for you so it's not really scandalous at all. And of course the situation won't change-Primetime have brought the rights for the fight and it's not going to change at all.big lennox wrote:It should be on BBC, ITV or Sky Sports. As simple as that.chrisfinch wrote:Errrrrrrrrr, did you read the first post?big lennox wrote:I think it is scandelous that a British TV channel is not showing it, and I hope this situation changes before the fight.
Yes it's a bit shit it's not on a proper channel, but you'll be paying the same money for the fight you would have done if it was on Sky and the companies you mentioned are seemingly not interested in showing it. It's a shame, but it's not scandalous.

Re: WBC CHAMP FROCH ON TRANS WORLD SPORT TONIGHT
It is scandelous in the sense that Britain has a top draw boxer/sportsman taking on the worlds best and about 3 people will get to watch it on tv because its tucked away on some obscure tv station that most people will not even have heard of.This, my friend, is my point which you seem to be missing because of your pedantry.
Re: WBC CHAMP FROCH ON TRANS WORLD SPORT TONIGHT
Me and arl Spud-Head are agreeing a bit too much recently. I do disagree with you saying it will be a tough fight. I think and hope that Froch will have too much for Kessler who unfortunately for boxing, hasn't been the same fighter since Calzaghe.
Froch is the best super middle in the world and a nice lad to go with it, good luck to him

Re: WBC CHAMP FROCH ON TRANS WORLD SPORT TONIGHT
Carl flys out there this weekend.
He's got a public workout with Kessler in a shopping centre on the Monday, official presser on Wednesday and then weigh-in at 5pm on the Friday.
Primetime show starts 9pm I think on the night. I think Froch v Kessler will commence about 10.00-10.30 or so.
Saulerland has put the undercard together and nobody to really look out for, except a middleweight called Patrick Nielson who is trained by Kessler and his coach i believe.

You`re right about the undercard. A disgrace really, especially when taking into account the headline fight and the cost of tickets.G0mez wrote:Carl flys out there this weekend.

Makes you think how lucky we are over here to get the undercards we do on a lot of shows. Sauerland and the Klitschko's undercards are always terrible when they have been shown over here, as are a lot of the US cards where Showtime or HBO only show one or two fights and nobody cares about the undercard.forcefraser wrote:You`re right about the undercard. You'd never get a Warren PPV undercard anywhere else in the world, unless it was PPV in the states.
