Yeah it might just take that Puncher7 for me to admit defeat. But i bet you anything if you ask the people who won that fight Oo yeah you already knowthey know who did. Im not complaining about the lost as a matter of fact im not even worried. He is my father Dennis im sure that our LBC wont allow that & i dont think that would allow other officials judging our fight. I beat this kid many times before but every local tournament he wins? Wonder what goes on ......im not complaining and im sure either is my father we just want a stop to the FAVORTISM!
Is this about Daniel Ybarra's fight? It was closer than I expected that's for sure and I didn't know who won when it was over. But Ybarra has a name so you have to KO him to win. Same with Eric Fowler. He lost badly second year in a row only for them to hand him the decision. I don't blame the kids they all fight hard but terrible decisions are bad in boxing the sad part is if you turn pro there will still be bad decisions they won't stop.
I was there for both championship fights and have to say that yes, Eric's fight was close and he might have even lost it,but Danny's fight really wasnt in my opinion,here again this is just my opinon and yes we do have bad decisions at times but not nearly as much as other parts of texas.Why do you think that people travel to houston from different parts of texas to compete,cause our decisions arnt that bad,and I have heard that from several people from all over texas,then again bad decisions are not just giving in houston they are giving everywhere.Thats just part of boxing.

Too many people complain about bad decisions. I have found that often it is a very close bout and if it doesn't go their way, they complain. Coaches need to teach their boxers about our sport and that with any subjective scoring system (judges decide what is a scoring blow so it is subjective) there will be decisions that they don't like. It is part of the sport and the boxers need to be taught good sportsmanship. Officials, administrators, coaches, clerks and FANS also need to learn about sportsmanship.
If you don't like to lose close decisions, then don't let them be close or just win by RSC!!!

If the standard scoring criteria was followed, judges wouldn't have to make any "decisions." D
In that fraction of a second as a judge sees a punch, he or she decides 1. Did the punch land with the knuckle portion of the glove? 2. Did it land with the force of the body or shoulder behind it? 3. Was the boxer commiting a foul while landing the punch? 4. Did the punch get blocked or deflected? 5. Did the punch land in the scoring area? These are all subjective decisions made by the judge just prior to either pushing the button/pressing the clicker or deciding not to count the punch.
I'm sure that there are other decisions that a judge makes, but those 5 are just off the top of my head.
The problem is when a guy makes a name USA Boxing wants to market him long term, like Eric Fowler. He's a good white boxer in the lower weight divisions how often do you ever see that? Of course his style is 100% suited for the amateurs but he will get more money staying amateur then he will turning pro and getting pounded because he's figured out the scoring system and executes it perfectly. It sucks to watch but I give him credit. That won't work in the pros though because it takes energy to keep running around and for 12 rounds it's nearly impossible but who knows if he even has the ambition to turn pro?

Some of the judges have zero boxing experience and that's embarassing.
i just heard some disturbibg news from a coach in corpus, who shall remain unnamed. is it true that the vp of south texas ralf davila forged his book and got caught by usa boxing which caused him to be on probation? can anyone confirm this? if it is true then people need to know so that they dont vote for crooked people!
SO VERY TRUE THAT LOTS OF THIS JUDGES DONT KNOW NOTTING ABOUT BOXING BUT THEIR GOOD FRIENDS WITH OTHER JUDGES.. ALOTS OF PEOPLE SAY THAT THE GULF REGION IS FAIR BUT THEIR NO DIFFERENT FROM OTHER REGIONS... THEY PICK THE ONES THAT THEY WANT TO WIN BUT SOME NEVER MAKE IT PAST STATE..
Good response. I am at the point where I will just roll my eyes too. I know that there can be some bad officials, but the answer is to become an official yourself and/or recruit others to become officials. It is not easy to convice people to do it though. Try that sales pitch out on a friend or even better try it out on a stranger - hey, how would you like to be a VOLUNTEER for USA Boxing and be a judge for amateur boxing? You don't get paid, you will spend a lot of time and money going to shows for very little reward. You will have people yelling at you, accusing you of cheating and sometimes even threatening you (or worse). By the way, you have to pay $80.00 (Michigan Association's membership fee for non-athletes) for the privilege of doing so. Are you ready to sign up?
How many people do you think will say yes to such a great offer?
The above is the reason we need to try to make our officials better as it is difficult to find replacements.
Thats funny. I actually have heard people threaten to shoot officials after the announcement of decisions... While i do think that there should be more training for officials on the local level, we are dealing with the fact that these people are volunteers... And remember, this is life, and life is rarely fair.
