Welterweight Lemuel Steepels was one of the American amateur fighters who sadly died in a plane crash with his team mates flying to Poland for a tournament.

I understand that he beat future professionals Champions Don Curry and Milton McCrory?

Does anyone have more information on Steepels?

Hi recently watched on video, Lemuel Steeples beating Hugo Hernandez at the 1979 Pan Am Games. Also I watched him losing a point decision to Donald Curry at the 1978 USA Championships. He certainly had great potential.
