US TV?

I have been reading the thread about the complaints about the quality of boxing (for the price) on Sky at the moment and whilst I agree its not great, can I ask how is it much different in the states?

Its is a question not a debating point, I don't know the TV system over there and would like to find out. Is Boxing shown on non-subrscription based TV or is HBO, ESPN, Showtime etc a premium subscription channel (ala Sky Sports).

I appreciate that there are some damn good contest shown there, but alot are on PPV and their PPV's are expensive and many are just two/three hours in duration. So what of their normal boxing? I do not believe Golota vs Brewester is on PPV, if I was to move to America how much money would I have to pay to view that?

You have to pay a monthly fee for your cable. Can range in price based on your cable company. I pay about $69 per month for 300 channels. This includes 6 HBO'S and 6 Showtime channels. Also with this you get your ESPN channels and Telefutura.

In Regards to PPV the charge is usually between $29 and $49. Of course $29 is for a very low end card.

The culture in the States for a PPV is great. Yes, they are pricey compared to ours but the usual crack is to get a few round and share the cost.

These days I'm just too knackered to stay up until 4 so I watch the 9am replay with a cuppa rather than a beer.

I watched Lewis-Tyson when I was in the Caribbean (as well as Lewis-Tua and several other PPVs) and it's great stuff. Big fights at 9pm. In the pub or a few lads round.

Similar to a big football match over here.

Deal, is this the Brock vs McCline bill?

Do you think it is worth £20 ontop of the monthly subcription? It is really only the equivalent of Skelton vs Williams - I would call both roughly on the same level. Skelton and Brock = Undefeated, untested. Williams and McCline = Proven short of world class, more experienced.

If the Williams vs Skelton fight was on PPV, there would be hell to play on here.
