I don't have an actuall a favourite boxer. If I have to pick one, then I have no answer.

Fighter that I did enjoy watching the most in no particular order:

Wilfredo Gomez
Marvin Hagler
Sweet Pea
Hector Camacho
Roberto Duran
Alfredo "El Salsero" Escalera, not elite but very exciting fighter.
George Foreman
Ernie Shavers for his KO's
Edwin Rosario
Alexis Arguello
and so on and on...

He certainly wasn't rubbish, some will claim greater accomplishments than he achieved. But an all time amateur and one of the better Jr Welterweights. I wouldn't vote for him in the HOF, but there will be far less deserving fighters rolling in. In particularly with todays HBO age of Boxing. Gatti couldn't shine Tszyu's shoes.

It's a running in-joke. I have plenty of respect for Tszyu, & in fact would support his HOF inclusion. His career has its short-comings, but all do.

And I would support Oscar's induction, even though he clearly wanted no part of KT @ 140. :OhYes:

I heard a rumor Oscar may fight Hatton later this year. How poetic would that be....

"I heard a rumor..." - TF

Let's hope it stays that way. What De La Hoya & Tszyu have in common was each fought too long, & in their cases, it was foreseeable they should have retired sooner.

What an era fr boxing! Seems like you couldn't turn on the TV in America in the 70s/early 80s without falling over a great fight.

Leonard is a favorite of yours? I've heard people talk friendlier about their worst enemy than I've ever heard you talk about Leonard.

You've referred to him as a cherry picker and gone on and on about how he basically was corrupt in getting the Duran rematch.

Whatever though. If that's how you talk about your favorites I guess we see what your admiration is worth.

And he was a cherry picking fighter that didn't need to do that. All that phony dealings with the Roberto Duran rematch is true also. It wasn't his fault. It was Duran's manager fault that betrayed Duran. But, Sugar Ray Leonard had a lot to do with Duran's downfall also. A beautiful strategist was Sugar Ray. Everything was done at his advantage. And we are going to criticize Floyd Mayweather Jr?

About Duran. I have said that he was always a sore loser. He didn't had no sportsmanship. That was one of his faults. He never gave credit to the other boxer.

Terrible Tim.

I just enjoy the way he'd fight, obviously showcased by the performance against Holmes. He took away the jab of one of the atg jabbers, using that crossed right hand and good reflexes to bat away the incoming. Forced Larry to dig deep and turned it into a classic.

Maybe that's why he'd struggle with other good jabbers like Pinky and Truth later on as condition and reflexes weren't peak but I really think that his ability to put his opponent away with one punch is slightly overlooked. He had some spectacular early ko's.

You can criticise him for having poor discipline but it's beyond doubt that he was used and abused by Don King (like so many others of his time) and I admire Tim for making a stand. It took real courage to stand up to someone as powerful as Don was.
