I am just re-watching Roy Jones vs John Ruiz. During the first 20 seconds or so of the fight, George Foreman said:

"This night, the referee is going to be the most important man in the ring other than the fighters."

I also remember the BBC commentator after Haye v Thompson twice proclaiming "David Haye's career is in tatters" once the fight was over. A little bit premature, especially with hindsight

Yes Jim Neilly always used to come up with some howlers! I'm sure there was a thread a few years ago dedicated to Neilly's commentary blunders. Couldn't find it though. :(
